• Saturday - Yungfrau

    22. september 2025, Schweiz ⋅ 🌧 17 °C

Today we ventured by train up Yungfrau mountain, 'The top of Europe', at 11,332 feet. The last 7 km was through a tunnel, built between 1898 and 1912. Very lightheaded at the top, so had to take it quite slowly. The Scientific Observatory, which we walked around, is perched on a mountain saddle, overlooking a huge glacier. We went through an ice cave and out on the snow terrace, where there were zip lines and helicopters landing. On the way down, we got off the train a couple of stops before Wengen and walked the rest of the way. Such beautiful countryside, loved hearing the cow bells and the pretty houses. Lots of people hiking and biking on all the trails. So lucky with the stunningly warm weather.Læs mere
