Mammoth Cave National Park

National Parks never disappoint at their campgrounds. Nothing like a nap in a hammock and a quiet campsite surrounded by birds and wildlife. Hot, but not as humid as we’ve been in so we are hopeful it will cool off tonight as these sites are the most beautiful and the most simple. 🏕Read more

Domes and Dripstones Tour

Went on this two hour classic tour to see areas that have been used for 100 years. Went through a sinkhole, down lots of stairs and ducked under lots of rock. The best part of the tour was seeing “Frozen Niagara”, which is a dripstone that looks like a waterfall. Saw lots of stalactite and stalagmites on this tour. The difference?!? Stalagmites and using all of their “might” to get up! Well worth it and it was a nice 54 in the cave vs 91 outside.Read more

South Bend/Elkhart KOA

Craziest thing happened on the way to our campground. We were driving on 331 and crossing over 80/90 when Maddie & Joy were driving under it!!!!! We saw their car! No joke! Silver with yellow NY plates and a bike on the back!!! Soooo fun!!! We were all so shocked that it was actually happening that we didn’t get a picture, but it happened and that is crazy cool! They left Fayetteville, NY 9 hours ago and we left Mammoth 6 hours ago and we cross on I-80/90!!!

Wonderful campground here with hysterical hosts. Playground, pool, a donkey named Jenny you can pet, mini golf, nature trail, pizza delivered to your site and the only KOA with a gelato bar! Maybe have to try it all out! 🏊‍♂️ ⛳️ 🐴 🍕 🍧

Also, passed this Carpenter truck and a fun bridge in Louisville, KY.Read more

Athlete Breakfast & Au Revoir Notre Dame

Angus, Joy and her mom attended an athlete breakfast and welcome before bidding adieu to Maddie and letting her fly. What an exciting moment for her! The breakfast was full of inspirational speakers to get everyone excited for their four years here. Each athlete received a copy of this book and the Wednesday “Letters to my Freshman Self” are outstanding. What a classy school and top notch welcome to the students and parents alike. Looking forward to what the next four years brings for Maddie. Kick butt, girl! We love you! ❤️ ☘️ 🚣Read more

I-84 Port Jervis, NY

Getting closer! Best welcome sign on the interstate today and we’ve seen our fair share.

Highlights from the day:
-Splitting off of I-90 and taking I-80 south of Cleveland. Last two trips we stuck to I-90.
-A plane flying really close to us in Indiana
-A UPS truck pulling three trailers
-Driving by Williamsport, PA during the semi-final game of the Little League World Series (Curaçao beat Japan in the International semi & Louisiana, where we visited this trip!, knocked off Hawaii in the USA side of the bracket. Both underdog teams won.)
-Driving through Scranton, PA the home of the TV show The Office. Maddie and Gordie were watching the series all summer. It’s popular with the teen set now. Crazy, right?!
-Patrick created a Lego army and said it’s a Clone War, of course it is.
-We realized OH has a National Park crossing I-80. Cuyahoga Valley National Park - We will put it on the list for a future trip! We love National Parks 🏞
-Uncle Dave found out the exact moment we were in Quicktown, PA and told us to slow down so we wouldn’t miss it (you crack us up, Dave! We needed some levity at hour nine!) by following our route and seeing us live on the Find Penguins app! 🐧 Fun new feature now that the app can keep track of our current location.

Easy day for a drive across our beautiful country. Wish we could stop and explore more, but school is calling to us and we must go mold the future leaders of this wonderful country we call home and teach them to preserve its beauty forever. ❤️Read more

¡Casa! Home!

We made it home!

Best Campground ⛺️ - Sherando Lake Recreation Area in George Washington & Thomas Jefferson National Forest.

Why? - It had a fun lake to swim in! Huge campsites, showers, playground, open field and a reservoir you could hike around.

Trip Highlights - New Orleans, Jack Daniels Distillery, Country Music Hall of Fame, dropping Maddie off at Notre Dame and seeing Matt & Rhiannon!!! ❤️

A medium sized trip packed with fun! Thanks for following along as we rambled around the central USA.
