Crazy traffic in Paris. We saw a horrific motorcycle accident. Slept for a couple of hours before stopping for lunch. Ate our first maccarons. The countryside is beautiful...lots of wheat fields. 😊

Beautiful fields and small villages. Lots of wind turbines and hay bales. Heard from an Olathe student behind me: Those fields are SO big! How do they "collect" all of the grains out of them? We're here! We are at the Hotel Splendide, and I'm pretty sure it has the best views of the four different hotels where the Kansas Ambassadors are staying. We are on the third floor and have our own balcony. The air smells of evergreen trees, woodsmoke, and roasted/candied almonds. Our little room is perfect, though I had to explain the purpose of the bidet to Miss Belle. ,😊もっと詳しく

Tiroler Weinstube Hotel

We are pretty sure that a mistake has been made. This is a super nice hotel, and we are in a multi-room suite complete with toilet, shower and sauna, kitchenette, and bedroom/dining area. We also have our own balcony that just happens to face the performance area for the band concert tomorrow afternoon. The choir will perform in the church tomorrow night!もっと詳しく

Fun in Austria

The Red Cross is putting on some sort of an event in the town square tonight. Apparently Austrians really like Billy Ray Cyrus along with their German dance music. 😊

It is now 11 PM, and the dance party continues. We had hoped to actually sleep tonight, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. At least they're playing some good music!もっと詳しく

Innsbruck

Innsbruck Olympic Ski Jump Arena. The cemetery is what Olympic jumpers saw as they made their jumps. A bit morbid. The statue is of Andreas Hoffer who successfully repelled Napoleon's forces with troops of farmers and peasants - 2-3 times. We didn't get to go into the Wilton Basilica, which is sad, but it's Sunday so we couldn't interrupt church services. The Emperor Maximilian had the Golden Roof built in the square so he'd have a private box to view events and executions. Also, to commemorate his wedding.もっと詳しく

Today we had a lot of free time after we visited Innsbruck this morning. We were both exhausted, and I had a sinus headache so we had an amazing pasta lunch at a little outdoor cafe here in Seefeld. Then we came back and slept for most of the afternoon. At about 4:30 we were able to enjoy the band concert from our balcony. Unfortunately, I now have a full-blown blinding migraine, so I am missing Ellie's concert tonight at St. Oswald's. It's a beautiful church, and I'm pretty ticked off that I won't be there, but I want to be able to go to Venice tomorrow, so I guess this is the trade-off. We leave the hotel at about 5:15 in the morning, so I hope we both get some good sleep tonight!もっと詳しく
