Heidelberg to Strasbourg 81 miles

A rainy day with a fierce headwind out of the south. I left Heidelberg at 8am for my earliest start of the trip. Sat out a heavy downpour. I was demoralized when 50 miles into my ride I saw a sign saying it was 74 kilometers to Strasbourg. Wait a minute, that would ve a 95 mile day. I looked into possible trains to catch. I crossed into France and kept pushing on. The wind was driving a harder wain and it was getting cooler as the day waned. Then in the town of Herrlsheim I lost the EuroVelo 15 route. I was on the highway with afternoon traffic and it was still a driving rain out of the south. The next town of Gambsheim I went to the Gare and started looking for trains. My data wasn't really working but I saw I couldn't bring my bike on from that station. I could go back to Gambsheim or on ro Kilsett. I booked a ticket and rode there. The train got in at 6 and I booked a hostel. Checked in 10 minutes later and once to my room started doing laundry, and drying and cleaning things.Weiterlesen
