• Edith Falls

    2–3 set 2024, Australia ⋅ ☀️ 36 °C

We absolutely loved it at Edith Falls! After a quick set up in our site, we wandered the short walk down to the lower pool, and were greeted by a huge swimming hole with a tumbling waterfall on the far side. Of the places we've been so far, there's something about this place that just feels special. I took the opportunity for a rare solo walk in the early evening while Ben cooked dinner and the kids played (although later reports suggested there was less playing and more squabbling). It was just under a 2km loop, taking me past the upper Edith falls pools, but the temperature was still pushing 35deg, I was in thongs (I'd just planned on a leisurely stroll), and it was a steep climb to get to the upper pools. I was also conscious of time, as I'd set out as the sun was getting low in the sky, and I didn't want to be caught in the dark for the walk back down, so I was half walking half jogging. But this trail did not disappoint! I was treated to an absolutely stunning sunset, made even more spectacular by the smokey haze created by the back burning happening nearby. The setting sun was a huge red ball disappearing behind the mountains - not so easy to capture on camera though unfortunately. I made it to the top pool, decided against a swim despite the heat for the sake of time but vowed to come back tomorrow, and raced back down the hill via the slightly shorter loop trail. Just in time for dinner, phew 😅Leggi altro
