• Darwin Days 5 & 6

    Sep 11–12, 2024 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 32 °C

Deb worked Wed morning and early afternoon, then we headed to the Botanic Gardens. We spent a lovely few hours wandering and exploring - definitely a lot more lush than the Alice Springs gardens! We heard second hand that a huge python had been spotted at the kids playground, so of course we wanted to check it out. When we eventually found the playground, we were all disappointed to find most of the playground area was closed for repairs, and no sign of any giant snakes.

We headed straight up to Northcliffe for fish and chips for dinner from a well-known local foodtruck, and found ourselves at the right place at the right time for a beautiful sunset over a colourful rocky outcrop. 'Magic mango' for dessert (just mango, blended and frozen - sounded more magic than it was in reality) and back home with two sleepy kids.

Thursday was a full work day, so Ben took the kids to the shops for new swimmers for Eva as she'd outgrown her last pair, and spent the afternoon back at the Leanyer waterpark. A dip in the pool to cool off before dinner. I ducked back out after dinner and the kids were down to buy Eva's birthday present, anticipating we may not be nearby big shops again before mid Oct.
