Mount Magnet

The gold mining town of Mount Magnet was our next stop. We stayed in the caravan park for 3 nights (pay for 2 and stay for 3). We drove the tourist trail and found it very interesting with the miners' cottage, the lookout, the craggy Cliffs with their caves, and The Granites. We also viewed the abandoned site of the town of Lennonville. Mt Magnet has an amazing museum where you could spend a few hours. The stories about Arthur Upfield, author of Bony books, were very interesting, and a movie has been made about one of his plots which came from true life while he was working on the building of the rabbit proof fence.Read more
