  • Nonnberg abbey

    December 29, 2015 in Austria ⋅ ☀️ 4 °C

Its very dark inside the chapel! From what we hear, yesterday, only 20 odd nun still lives here today. So how they get extra income? By installing light switches at key display areas that requires Visitors to put in 50 cents euro if you want the area to light up! And it only lasts around a min or so,thus those who missed it gota put in coins again! Pretty clever. We wanted to hear them sing at around 5pm, but the chapel door was locked after we go out of the church and look see abit. So no singing nuns today.Read more

  • What to do in vienna?

    December 30, 2015 in Austria ⋅ 🌙 0 °C

Watch a opera, musical or orchestra performance of course! We went directly from our hotel and went to karlskirsche where an orchestra is playing the 4 seasons movement by vivaldi. Whats special about this as compared to the one in singapore? Besides 100% of the time we don't know what the opera singeris singing about at each interval, It took place in a church haha. And the church has no heating so everyone is still in their winter jackets and with a blanket provided by the staff!Read more

  • Early morning in vienna

    December 31, 2015 in Austria ⋅ ⛅ -1 °C

Its new years eve, and wanting to beat the crowd, we went to the schonbrunn palace for a visit. Actually kiasu is not a singaporean speciality; the ang mo also very kiasu too. Lol. Because by the time we reach the palace and heading to the ticketing office, hoards of ang mo are already filling the place to the brim. We waited from 1130am to 1.30pm for our guided tour, but the wait was worth it for this unnesco conservation site. Too bad no pics allowed, as its an amazing place with 80% ofthe artifacts left intactand as it was.Read more

There were fireworks going off around us, and its add to the exciting part of it although its kinda scarey too as you wouldnt know whether will the fireworks anyhow fly. But it definitely is a new experience for both of us!Read more

You will create your own character in the exhibition lol. Thanks wifey!Read more

  • Arty houses

    January 1, 2016 in Austria ⋅ ☁️ 0 °C

We walked from the star wars exhibition to hundertwasser to check out the alice in wonderland type of houses (as described by wifey). Its kinda wierd to me lol as its too avant garde to stay in such places lol. But its still a sight to check out in vienna. But kinda pity those who stayed here, who i feel kinda lose their spaces around their houses to the tourists :pRead more

  • The fun land in town

    January 1, 2016 in Austria ⋅ ⛅ 0 °C

We walked over to the prater which is a huge amusement park for visitors. Its a very old school park, where you can find the oldest ferris wheel around, with wooden cabins, and attractions that we used to have in singapore, like those old uncle ringo amusement parks we had in the past. But much better rides of course haha. Its a nostalgic feeling for me and wifey. But we didnt take the rides as we didn't wana freeze our butts off lolRead more

  • Prague, the next stop

    January 2, 2016 in Czech Republic ⋅ 🌫 1 °C

Today we head to prague for our honeymoon. Prague is the part of the trip where we would want to slow down and just chill. Thus most prob we will be chilling for 6 days here lol. Paul, the airbnb host was nice to come to the train platform to meet us in his long hair and bike lol. After a rumbling sounded walk with our luggage through the cobblestone streets, we reached a very nice loft studio that looks exactly like the pics in the airbnb listing. Me and wifey are glad that we made the change lol. And everything is really walkable distance!Read more

  • First feel of the old town

    January 3, 2016 in Czech Republic ⋅ ☁️ -3 °C

Although its pass new year, there are still a new years market going on in the old town square. The place is really freezingly cold, hopefully we can survive through the free walking tour we are going for at 12pm. But the atmosphere is great! It doesnt feels too crowded and it feels safe here. (safety is emphasized by Paul, that in prague its almost crime free except pickpockets or taxis or money changers). Its a pretty place, with the walls full of carbon deposits from the cars lol. But it adds to the authencity of the city, rather than like munich, where is pretty clean but its a rebuilt city. But thats from what i know about prague so far after a few hours walking around in the morning. More to come.Read more

  • Taking down the wrong statue

    January 3, 2016 in Czech Republic ⋅ ☁️ -3 °C

According to the guide, 2 nazi soldiers removed the statue of hilter's favourite composer. Wagner, instead of the jewish Mendelssohn, out of the 34 statues lining the edge of the roof. Because they were not able to recognize which was the composer and just removed the one with the biggest nose as apparently jews have big nose. This is beside the fact that this theatre sound acoustic is very good and is one of the main theatre in czech. And the picture with the castle in the far distance is the prague castle which we will visit within the next few days.Read more

    January 3, 2016 in Czech Republic ⋅ ☁️ -3 °C

According to the legend, a thief was caught by the statue of mary in the church while trying to remove a precious necklace from her neck. The statue caught the thief by his arm, and the priest who saw the scene in the morning got an executioner to save the thief by chopping off his hand. The thief then ran off, with the statue telling the priest to hang the chopped hand in the church to warn those who want to steal from it. The guide said dna test was done on the supposed hand, and proved human...Read more
