Plantation and arrival to New Orleans

    November 9, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

    - Visiting Whitney plantation close to New Orleans and learning about its history as an indigo/sugar cane plantation that was run by slaves under horrifying conditions -> makes you leave the place quite pensive (but I gotta say that the museum on this plantation was excellent and provided so many insights about the slave trade, daily life on a plantation and the massive injustice done to African slaves for centuries
    - Observing some wildlife around the plantation -> we even saw an alligator (even without doing an overpriced swamp tour😁)
    - Continuing onwards to New Orleans to enjoy local food for dinner (Jambalaya rice dish and Boudin balls -> very tasty and quite different from typical American fast food)
    - Strolling around Bourbon street in New Orleans at night and observing the fully commercialized bar and club operations there (all kinds of music with staff trying to draw you into the bars/clubs) -> wasn't really our vibe making us leave after an hour
