Coast to Coast

Travelling from one side to the other, Brisbane to Perth, to explore this big beautiful country with our Colombian friend. Read more
  • Mount Rouse Lookout

    February 4 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

Mount Rouse itself was an interesting spot, ex-volcano with a lake in the crater. But, I didn't get any photos of itself, whoops. Instead it was the first glimpse of the Grampians, in the distance.

  • Port Fairy

    February 4 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 12 °C

Such a cute little town and I was obsessed with how clear the water was. There was a nice walk around a Shearwater Bird Sanctuary on a semi-attached island called Griffiths Islands.

  • Flagstaff Hill Night Show

    February 3 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

I judged this show way too early and harshly. I was expecting it to be a little cringe when Alex and I first discussed it in our planning... But I thought it was really fun and interesting and they did a great job. It was reeling the story of the whaling industry and the wreck of the Loch Ard through story. They used projectors and lighting to bring it to life.Read more

  • Hopkins Falls

    February 3 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

Quick stop to check out this former lava flow, now a small river and falls. I was hoping to see the platypus but definitely not the right time of day for any hope of that.

  • Loch Ard Gorge

    February 3 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

Named after the ship wreck that happened at these cliffs and the story of a young male and female survivors. A story that later that night I'll find out is important.

  • Twelve Apostles

    February 3 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

Really could post 100 photos of the apostles. We started with the first lookout just before the main one. No people but a little further away. But even at the main view point we arrived before all the bus loads of people, so it was relatively quiet and we got any advantage point we wanted. Really happy I finally made it here, I've always been envious of other people's photos.Read more

  • Blanket Bay

    February 3 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

After picking up some bakery for breakfast in Lorne, we headed out to Blanket Bay to eat it. A beautiful location to have a very tasty curry scallop pie. Yes, for breakfast. The drive was really pretty and filled with kangaroos and wallabies, even a deer that gave us a hell of a fright.Read more

  • Teddy's Lookout

    February 2 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

Kookaburra's featured heavily in this short walk, from the beginning to the end. Someone left them some bread roll to eat. Which even though not healthy for them, have us a great opportunity to watch them in the branch next to the path.Read more

  • Live Wire Park

    February 2 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

Juanes really enjoyed his time here. With a huge zip line that goes around and in between trees. Then he wanted to go on the climbing wall, but to do that apparently they make you do the whole five different high ropes courses they have. Four hours later we finally left. Atleast one of us slept well that night.Read more

  • Going round the twist?

    February 2 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

The Split Point Lighthouse which was the air for the Round the twist show. A significant and old Lighthouse in its own right, and no where near big enough to live in at all, so some TV trickery happened there. So great you get to go up inside it and walk around the top, a beautiful view on the good day we happened to have.Read more

  • Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie

    February 2 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

A must stop to grab some snacks on the way. Especially if you arrive before the buses, which ofcourse Alex's planning always does. We had to grab some hot chocolate to make at one of our BnBs and I really wanted some choc honeycomb.Read more

  • Bells Beach

    February 2 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

Is it wrong to have expected more? I am not sure why, but it's one of those famous beaches you hear about all your life and for some reason I was expecting something a little more grand. But I guess it's a surf beach for surfing, so it's not meant to be famous for anything other then that.Read more

  • Surf Coast Museum

    February 1 in Australia ⋅ 🌬 18 °C

Before travelling the surf coast, we thought it was a good opportunity to learn about it first. This was actually quite a decent walk through of the history of the sport. Interesting to see the original pioneer of surfing in Australia was a guy called Tommy Walker who spent a lot of time in the surf life saving club in Yamba, that feels like something I should have already known.Read more

  • Geelong

    February 1 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

It was a very quick stop here, enough to see the beach, go around the Ferris Wheel and have a fresh cinnamon doughnut. Almost got trapped by a cycle race that was on at the same time, but thankfully good timing.Read more

  • Eau de Vie

    January 31 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

A not-so-secret speakeasy for more cocktails. A bit posh and classy but clearly the people that go there aren't adventurous with their drink choices... Our smoking, bubbling, flaming drinks were very popular for people to watch and comment on.Read more

  • Luna Park

    January 31 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

We had to take Juanes on the World's Oldest Continually Running Roller-coaster, of course lol. It was a cute place, I preferred it over the Sydney one. And we got there when it was opening so it was relatively quiet thankfully.Read more
