Returning Juanes to Colombia

In 2019, Taronga opened up a retreat inside the zoo grounds where you can stay the night in one of their beautiful rooms. Arguably, the best view of Sydney of any hotel.

This facility is another income stream to earn more money for the zoo, as a not for profit. In the middle of the blocks of rooms, they have built a special area called the Sanctuary, which is home to koalas, paramelons, turtles, and adorable echidnas that absolutely melted our heart.

Our bedroom looked over the Red Kangaroo area, so we were able to look down over them from the open window of our bedroom.

The dinner that night was a degustation at the retreat's Me-Gal restaurant and absolutely delicious.
