    June 26, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 88 °F

The final leg of the journey! St. Louis, MO to Battle Creek, MI.

Everyone had a wonderful time, but we are ready to resume our normal schedule and sleep in our own beds. I had better stop for whip cream for Grace and Carly before I get to the house so that they will let me in. :)

Final Tally: 8 National Parks/Monuments, 1 State Park. 11 States, hundreds of photos, countless memories.Read more

    Missouri -The Show Me State

    June 25, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 95 °F

Had lunch with Ken & Elizabeth in Independence,. Another excellent meal of local BBQ and lots of laughter about family stories.

We then continued on toward the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial and the Gateway Arch. The girls liked the view from the top and even enjoyed the tram ride, especially on the way down (600 ft in 3 minutes.) Stephanie was not a fan of going through security. She'd never been through a metal detector.Read more

    On the way to Topeka

    June 25, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 93 °F

We dropped Mike off at Denver International Airport to fky back to Michigan. Unfortunately he had to bail on the rest of the trip because he had to work this weekend. Jobs, they just get in in the way of life! :)

Driving along I-70 in Kansas we saw stone fence posts made from the local sandstone. Also learned the "Rock Chalk, Jayhawk! " cheer from the KU billboards.

Dinner at Boss Hawg's in Topeka, the burnt ends & ribs were excellent!

    Heading Toward Denver

    June 23, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 75 °F

Today is mostly a travel day, overnighting in Loveland. Colorado. Crossed the Continental Divide twice. Between the two crossings was the Great Divide Basin, an area where the water does not shed to either ocean, but stays within the basin. Obviously not a lot of rain here, it is desert, without any streams or even ponds. However, once we got closer to Laramie we got our first rain of the trip - Nature's Car Wash. Cleaned the bugs off the windshield!

Finished the day with an excellent dinner at 3 Margaritas, a local Mexican restaurant next to our hotel, which is a good thing because we may need to be rolled to our rooms.

    Grand Teton National Park

    June 22, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 70 °F

Views from Jackson Lake and Jenny Lake. And along Cottonwood Creek.

While we went through the Jenny Lake scenic loop, the girls played in Cottonwood Creek. After playing for about 45 minutes, Steph slipped on a rock and got soaked, then somehow Val managed to slip on rock and get soaked, about 5 times. :) They were not wearing their swimsuits.Read more

    Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone

    June 22, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 70 °F

Yellowstone Falls & Tower Falls. Saw an osprey nesting by the Lower Falls overlook., but couldn't do it justice with the phone.

We did not pickup any baby buffalo, but while looking for a bear at an overlook, we noticed Gail had acquired a hitchhiker. Mark spotted a mouse peering over the window wiper from the well on the front of the van. He was assisted in getting down and rapidly scampered away.

Now on to Grand Teton National Park
