  • Rome

    Jun 18–21, 2024 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 34 °C

ROME-ing in ROME! How fun. The past 3 days have been awesome! (Despite a shabby sleep schedule) I found myself getting right into things, making plans and finding a group pretty much moments after I got into the city which was sweet! In Rome I spent my time with Kylie, Lily, Shaneil, and Josh, who are all from North America. We grabbed dinner together on the first night I arrived, and spent our second day seeing pretty much all the sights that you could see. We went out for a little dance together, and did more exploring on the final day. We went to watch the soccer game and there was literally at least 100 people watching it outside this bar on the tiniest 32” TV! It was funny hahahah. I spent my last morning checking out some coffee shops and doing a last little walk around. Lily and Shaneil are heading to Florence next as well so I’ll see them soon!Read more

  • Florence

    Jun 21–24, 2024 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 31 °C

How lovely to be back in Florence! I spent more time with Lily and Shaneil since they were heading over here as well! Highlight may have been seeing the Uffuzi Gallery, and watching Peeping Tom (Belgian contemporary dance company) perform in the Florence Dance Festival. It was nice to be comfortable in knowing what to do sort of, since I had been here before. Got the delicious al’antico vinaio sandwiches, the best gelato from vivoli, and scrumptious handmade pasta from the central market. Saw the sunset from the Piazzale Michelangelo and also had to see the duomo! Was hoping to maybe do a day trip to Pisa but didn’t have the chance. Went clubbing and did lot of wandering! Thank you again, Florence!Read more

  • Certaldo

    Jun 24–26, 2024 in Italy ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

I stayed at a little, somewhat remote hostel in Certaldo, which is a little ways into Tuscany. My expectations were low, since it seemed far out and desolate, but it turned out to be amazing! It was just a big sleepover with a bunch of lovely people- I was upset that I’d only ended up staying 2 nights. The staff would hang out with us as though they were also guests- it was a great time! We’d play cards, drink wine, visit the fruit market, it was lovely. The only downside was the brutal amount of mosquitoes that were on the premises 😰Read more

  • Siena

    June 25, 2024 in Italy ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

From Certaldo, I did a day trip over to Siena, which was a quaint little city just 2 train stops over. I went with two girls who I’d met the night before- Edana and Scarlet. Siena was home to the most beautiful duomo that I’d ever seen in my life! The amount of detail was stunning. We went to a lookout point, a few piazza’s, and into the museum by the duomo. Tried some stuffed pizza, and that’s when the torrential downpour started and it rained so hard for a while! Doesn’t ruin the day though, it was still great!Read more

  • Bologna

    June 28, 2024 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

Bologna was honestly full of surprises! But I’m glad that I just had a short stop over here. The first thing that stood out to me were all of the arches that you walk under (kind of like in the last pic), each street was lined with these (so when it was raining, or way too sunny, you can walk in peace!), it was beautiful! I had some bolognese in bologna, tortellini, and of course, gelato. I saw some churches, spent some time in the library, and even saw a film in the outdoor cinema!Read more

  • Turin

    Jun 28–30, 2024 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 31 °C

Turin! A cute little city. I was only here for a short time before I left to my dance intensive, but it was a nice, calm place to be. Here was home to the biggest market that I’ve ever seen in my life, big clover fields (where I found a 4 leaf clover!), lots of nice parks, and antique book stands. I read lots, relaxed lots, and made myself some awful homemade pasta for every meal!Read more

    Jun 30–Jul 7, 2024 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

I wish I could add more photos because the landscape was stunning. This may have been one of the best dance experiences that I’ve ever had. Between the beautiful studios, stunning pools, saunas, buffet meals, lovely botany, it was truly a paradise. That, and getting to meet and dance with 65 other dancers from different places in the world is such a unique experience. Even more, what I’ve learned- yes- the moves, but also beyond that, is priceless. I’m so excited to take what I’ve learned from this retreat, and bring it back home to my regular training. We would have warm up class, and learn repertoire and ended with doing a performance on the last day. Also I was given the only solo out of all 65 people in the intensive…. which is a crazy accomplishment that I won’t take lightly!! 11/10 experience EASY!!!Read more

  • Trieste

    Jul 8–11, 2024 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

Back on the road! And back with friends! I met up with Ailish and Isabella for this week of the trip and it was so nice to see some familiar faces! Trieste is a port city, but doesn’t really have any beach super close by. On my first day before the girls arrived I befriended a British family and we went to see the castle and ate lunch together. During my time in Trieste we also went to see a palace, watched the sunset, and even went on a day trip to Venice! (Detailed in the next post!) Goodbye Italy! 🇮🇹Read more

  • Venice

    July 10, 2024 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 33 °C

I really, really liked Venice! Although it is undoubtedly touristy, it was just so unique, and had a lot of different things to offer. Firstly, I didn’t realize that it was an island, which is cool. Secondly, it was a huge maze! It was hot out, but the endless buildings shaded us well 😎 I could probably wander around here forever- it was so cute! The duomo was also very beautiful! We didn’t do a gondola ride, which I do regret, but it’s alright!Read more

  • Pula

    Jul 11–14, 2024 in Croatia ⋅ ☀️ 33 °C

This is my first time in Croatia and it definitely won’t be my last! The minute I got here I was so in love! And so grateful to finally get to swim!!! I think I went in the water each day I got here, it was lovely! Our hostel was right by a beach so that made it easy as well. Day swims, sunset swims, you name it. We rented a boat on our second day here and it was one of my favourite days yet! We’d drive around the area, stop when we see something we like and then swim to the shore! On our last day we visited the actual town of Pula which- I actually didn’t like as much as the village of Pješčana Uvala that we were staying in. In the town, we saw an outdoor film, went to the castle, and went to a fun bar with some hostel friends!Read more
