Uros - floating islands of lake Titicaca

After colca canyon we went to lake titicaca and spent two nights in one of the floating villages - Uros. The hosting family was super friendly and showed us how the manage their life in this special environment. Almost everything is made out of reed and so we joined them to cut it and learn how they use it.

Besides that we enjoyed the beautiful sunset at the lake and the crystal clear sky at night with thousands of stars.En savoir plus

Cusco - Rainbow Mountains

Just seven years ago the Rainbow Mountains near Cusco we’re discovered. Due to the melting of glaciers in the area, the colorful layers became visible. Different minerals like iron or sulfur are responsible for that.
The Peruvians quickly transformed this spot into a crowded tourist place 🙈
But still we enjoyed the hike above 5.000m to witness this natural spectacle.En savoir plus

Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu - definitely a point on almost every bucket list. What an experience. We took the bus to a hydro power plant and hiked for around one and a half hours to Aguas Calientes, the village at the foot of Machu Picchu. At 4.00am the next morning we started our hike up to the Archeological site. It took us a very exhausting hour before we finally entered Machu Picchu. Our guide told us about the Inke who used to live here, the story about the creation of the village and the conquest of the Spains. Additionally we hiked up to one of the surrounding mountains, Wayna Picchu. It was nice to have a complete different view from there, but nothing beats the famous view point. Just standing there and see Machu Picchu in front of The foggy mountains is breathtaking.
Absolutely one of the most impressive moments on our trip. Even when it’s still super crowded even during the pandemic.En savoir plus

Cusco & Sacred Valley

Cusco is also a very nice city but you immediately recognize why it is called the “Tourist Capital”. Everyone is trying to sell a tour, souvenirs or invite you in a restaurant.
The reason is simple: inca and colonial history and the tourist highlights rainbow mountains, sacred valley and Machu Picchu close by.

During a trip to the sacred valley we visited another inca ruin and the “Salineras”, little ponds where they produce salt out of a Saltwater spring.En savoir plus

Huaraz and hasta la proxima, Peru!

Our last stop in Peru before heading back to Lima and continuing our trip on another continent.
Huaraz is famous for hiking trips to incredible landscapes, glaciers and colorful lagoons. We did two hikes one to the famous lagoon 69. The color of the water is insane. You cannot believe this is a real.
A successful ending of our trip trough Peru.
With the night bus we went back to Peru where we stayed in a hostel in our favorite neighborhood: Barranco. Here we enjoyed a last time ceviche and pisco sour and prepared ourselves for the next destination. After six months in Latin America we’re leaving the continent… 😉En savoir plus

Stopover Los Angeles

On our 44hour journey to Thailand we had an 15 hours stopover in L.A.
We met a friend we met first in Costa Rica at the very beginning of our trip. It’s funny how your paths crossing in your life. Andrew was so kind and gave us a ride from and to the airport, we used his bikes for a tour around Santa Monica and Venice. In the afternoon we made a short stop at the walk of fame and we saw the Hollywood sign far in the hills.
I think we made the best out of this short stopover. Luckily both of us have already been there so we’re relaxed.
In the evening we entered our flight to Singapur - 18hrs, crossing the Pacific Ocean.En savoir plus

Welcome to Thailand

Finally we arrived in Thailand. First of all we’re super happy to end up in Southeast Asia. Our original plans were actually so start our trip in this area. But anyways, Latin America was unbelievable and now we’re here, ready to explore this complete different culture. Since the 1st of November, Thailand is open for travelers without any quarantine. For us, coming from Peru it was still a bit more difficult. Due to the fact that Peru is not on the list of “safe country’s” we have to stay for the first seven days in one province, but also without any quarantine.
We already applied for the new Thailand Pass online and had a reservation with a certified hotel on the island Phuket. Arriving at the airport there was simple. The organization was incredible. The staff managed it pretty well to do the health registration, immigration and the mandatory PCR test after arriving for tons of tourists. Shoutout 👌🏻
We had then a transport to our hotel where we had to stay in our room for a couple of hours until the test results were sent via email.
Since that we’re able to go out and enjoy ourselves. We’re looking forward to explore Phuket for the upcoming seven days and the whole country after this time.En savoir plus

Phuket, Thailand

We had to spend our first seven days on Phuket island due to the sandbox program. Our hotel was located at Patong beach which is mostly known as a party hotspot. And I have to say that’s absolutely true. Besides we also witnessed some stereotypes, because most tourists in Patong are white, european men above 40 years. 🙈

We rented out a scooter to explore the island. We found some
Nice little beaches and visited the big Buddha statue at a little hill where you have a beautiful view of the Phuket and the small surrounding islands.

After the first seven days in Patong, we had two additional nights in Oldtwon Phiket which is surprisingly nice.
The next stop will be Bangkok where we go by a nightbus.En savoir plus

In total we spent four nights in Thailands capital: Bangkok! More than 14 million people are living in and around this giant city.
We really really liked Bangkok. The amazing temple’s, the impressive kings palace or busy china town to grab some street food. This place is testing all your senses.
At one night we treated ourselves with an expensive cocktail at the famous sky bar of Lebua State Tower and enjoyed the incredible view of Bangkok at night.En savoir plus

Chiang Mai, Thailand

Sarah, a friend from back home is visiting us for three weeks in Thailand. After picking her up in Bangkok, we took a night train up in the north to Chiangmai. A quite and beautiful city. We visited different temples, the Doi Inthanon Nationalpak and walked along the night market which took place for the first time after more than two years now.
One day we’ve been to “Elephant Nature Park”, a sanctuary for elephants who have been rescued. At this place you’re able to have a close encounter with this giant creature’s while making sure that they’re treated well. Bathing or riding is forbidden and during all the time you have to make sure that the elephants can move where ever they want. They are not forced to do anything at all.
We heard different story’s about the history of the individuals and sometimes it was horrible to hear what our species has done to this animals.En savoir plus
