Final Day Vienna

I had some time before my train leaving that evening so I headed to Belvedere Palace. Just to note here that there are two Belvedere buildings to discover ; Belvedere upper which is the large palatial building which houses Gistav Klimt ‘s THE KISS and Belvedere Lower which has its own galleries . I couldn’t get tickets for B Upper so plan in advance as everyone keen to see Klimts most famous work.
However Belvedere Lower has its own treasures with a retrospective of Austrian Contemporary painters and at the time I visited a brilliant exhibition by Amoako Baofo whose work was vibrant and joyful (see pics). Then off the famous Sacher Hotel to pick up a famous Sachertorte; a quick pop into St Stephen’s Cathedral which is magnificent and worth the visit. I’m glad I visited as I had avoid the long queues that weee there a few days ago but it is worth the wait and the queue reduces quickly … have your cameras ready as it’s impressive….Read more
