52 | West Coast | Alex Knob Track

🇬🇧 We got up early this morning because we wanted to go on the Alex Knob Hike which is an 8-hour hike. We only wanted to walk to a viewpoint halfway up, so that's not the reason we got up early. The reason we got up early is because the car park for the walk is tiny and there was only one space left when we arrived there at 8am!

Before we went up the hill we did a detour to Lake Wombat where we did some bird watching.

The walk itself was nice and not too strenuous. It climbs steadily up the hillside through dense rainforest. Some parts were quite steep but mostly it was very manageable. At the first viewpoint we decided to walk to the second one which was another 30 minutes away. Although the clouds were hanging really low it was still an impressive view.

🇩🇪 Wir sind heute Morgen früh aufgestanden, weil wir die Alex Knob-Wanderung machen wollten, eine 8-stündige Wanderung. Wir wollten nur zu einem Aussichtspunkt auf halber Höhe laufen, das ist also nicht der Grund, warum wir früh aufgestanden sind. Der Grund, warum wir früh aufgestanden sind, ist, dass der Parkplatz für die Wanderung winzig ist und nur noch ein Platz frei war, als wir um 8 Uhr dort ankamen!

Bevor wir den Hügel hinaufgingen, machten wir einen Abstecher zum Lake Wombat, wo wir Vögel beobachteten.

Die Wanderung selbst war schön und nicht zu anstrengend. Sie führt stetig durch dichten Regenwald den Hügel hinauf. Einige Abschnitte waren ziemlich steil, aber größtenteils war es sehr machbar. Am ersten Aussichtspunkt beschlossen wir, zum zweiten zu laufen, der weitere 30 Minuten entfernt war. Obwohl die Wolken sehr tief hingen, war die Aussicht trotzdem beeindruckend.Read more
