Flying to Krabi and Tonsai beach

Flew from Bangkok to Krabi, Thailand. Took a taxi to a pier, then a traditional long boat to our “hostel” on Tonsai beach. It’s a beach completely enclosed by tall limestone cliffs so the only way there is by boat. Erica didn’t know this when she booked it but it made for a secluded and private location and was a welcome visit away from the crowds.Baca lagi

Only approximately 2 minutes between the sunny and apocalypse pictures. Storms move quickly here! We were planning on hiking through the water and over a mountain after our first beverage. I think we’ll just sit here for awhile 😬Baca lagi

Pengembara We are so glad you are enjoying it. We try to post new stuff daily, but are admittedly a little behind as we are currently spending some time in Bali Indonesia with some of Erica’s friends. We have a few more weeks of the trip to go which will take us back to Bangkok Thailand and then thru 3 of the Hawaiian islands on our way back to the US. Btw, we will be coming to Washington sometime in the summer and will be sure to let you know when we will be in town. Take care

Tonsai beach to Phi Phi island

We were sad to leave Tonsai beach but had to hike up and over a mountain with our luggage to Railay beach to catch a ferry to Phi Phi island. After a relaxing boat ride to Phi Phi (locals call it PP) we explored the beaches until able to check into our hostel. The waters were clear and turquoise and the people so nice. For sunset we hiked to Long Beach which was more adventuresome than we expected! There has been a lot of construction since Google maps has updated so luckily we found some local signs and eventually reached the truly Long Beach. After a nice dinner ocean side it was time to hike back to the hostel in the center of the island.Baca lagi

Tiger temple, then krabi to Bangkok

We decided it was a good idea to climb 1,206 steps (some of them over knee high) in 115 degree heat without shade to a Buddhist temple on our way to the airport 😂 our driver thought we were crazy, and he was probably correct. But we made it, the monkeys were too tired from the heat to steal our shoes, and we loved the view. Then on to an amazing dinner ordered by Sarah and a walk through some of the Bangkok nightlife.Baca lagi

Ubud: Tukad cepung waterfall

Beautiful waterfall that you hiked down to a shallow river and cave to see. The light beams are known for filtering through the mist to create these fantastic sun beams. Of course not when we took our photos in front of the falls, but hey, it was a beautiful wait ☺️Baca lagi

Kanto Lampo waterfall

We headed next to Kanto Lampo waterfall, another beautiful waterfall but unfortunately was overrun with “instagramers.” It was sad to see the natural haven destroyed by humans just looking for “that photo.” People waited in long lines in waist deep water (or chest deep in some areas as Erica found out) to climb up on the rocks and pose in sometimes embarrassing ways for a public place. We would not return on our next trip.Baca lagi

Goa Gajah

After the waterfalls we visited a Hindu temple where our guide instructed us how to use the holy water to bring us health and reduce stress. It definitely felt good on a day that reached over 100 degrees! We also learned that not only do you have to be covered, but that women have to wear sashes if not in a sarong specifically.
