P. S.: Tokyo Station is a maze. Took me longer to get out than the time to get to the hotel (15 mins with luggage)

The temple was originally built in 1393, and moved here in 1598. It was severely damaged during WWII. Most of it has been recently reconstructed.

Built for deified Emperor Meiji, the first Emperor of modern Japan, and Empress Shoken in 1920, 8 and 6 years after their passing. It was destroyed in WWII, but rebuilt shortly after.

Made a 2 minute subway ride in 30 mins walking. Uphill. In the rain. I am not a happy camper at the moment. This palace better be worth it!

Due to corcerns about the virus, no walk-ins are allowed - so no Palace today for me. I'll check out the gardens then. The Emperor himself is in Asakusa.

Half the garden is under construction/renovation or just cordoned off. There's actually screaming coming from the closed off parts. I found the pond and left quickly.
