    Cheap at half the price!

    I've moved house. I wanted to be closer to the Alice Springs Hospital to do the REC course.
    Wow, a bit if a step down from Double Tree but I can stay here twice as long! Still has 2 pools and a restaurant, an air conditioner, kettle, and secure. It is clean enough though skirting boards could do with some attention and there's some wobbly knobs 😅😅

    "Ibis Styles Alice Springs Oasis is just a few minutes' walk from the Alice Springs town centre and offers 2 swimming pools, a tropical garden as well as a spa and wellness centre. Traeger Park, which offers tennis courts, is just a 5-minute walk away. 
    The Royal Flying Doctor Service Museum is less than a 10-minute walk away and the Alice Springs Hospital is just a 3-minute walk.

    Day 2 of REC and passed BLS

    A big full on day. 8am-5 pm
    Lots of theory in the morning with not much time for breaks. Skill stations in the afternoon as well as Basic Life Support assessment on adult, child and baby. Doesn't matter how many times you do it, it's always a scary thing being assessed. I passed 😆👍🏆
    One of the skill stations was putting a chest drain into a sheep (carcass) !!    En savoir plus

    I passed!!!

    Another full on day with theory, skill stations and exams. A multi choice closed book quiz and a mock scenario to pass.
    My scenario was a 6 month old baby who was floppy and had yucky squirty nappies. I had to assess her then I treated her for dehydration with an intra osseous (into the bone) infusion as I couldn't get in a IV cannula (as per scenario ). Then talk to RFDS about a transfer. All pretend but I had to say out loud what I was doing and thinking in a systematic order. Phew!
    Then a dip in the pool to cool off and wash off the stress 😊
