• Milford Sound

    February 7, 2019 in New Zealand ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

We took a boat trip in the evening around Milford Sound. There were very few boats on the water.
This was every bit as awe inspiring as we hoped it would be with the high mountains plunging down either side of the water into the deep. We were on a small boat with 12 other people, and we were the only English speakers. The captain of the boat pointed out lots of interesting things to see and took us close to waterfalls and seals so that we could get a closer look. We ventured out onto the Tasman Sea where the water was quite choppy before turning round to return via the fjord.
Our camp site in the forest lodge was great - it was nestled within the rain forest and the facilities were excellent. The cicadas were very noisy ,and once the sand-flies became troublesome we went inside to escape!!!
