    Redcar

    June 5, 2019 in England ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

Moving down the coast we caused havoc in Alnwick - we went in search of a filling station and the GPS took us down the main street - unfortunately at the end of it there is a very low arched and ancient entry/exit point into the town. In theory it offered 15mm clearance for Hazel to get through and A was not prepared to get stuck. We reversed gingerly back along the very busy high street and with a bit of help from a friendly local managed to turn round and escape around the town another way.
Alnwick looked to be a lovely little town with a large and impressive castle. We resolved to return on our next trip north when the locals will not want to stab us.
We spent two lovely days with Margaret and Donald in Redcar prior to heading further south. Karen visited a fabric and craft shop in Guisborough to buy materials for her latest project and A assisted Donald in clearing a large Ivy from their rear garden. We free camped both nights on the stray between Redcar and Marske with only a French motorhome beside us - very peaceful.
