    Lincoln

    July 13, 2020 in England ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

A travelling day. We said our goodbyes to Stella and Steve the night before, and set off in the morning heading south to Lincoln where had reserved a place on a site within a country park run by the council - Hartsholme Park - which is close enough to walk or cycle into the city.
On Tuesday we walked into the city - following a drainage water course to join the footpath alongside the River Witham. After a short deour to the computer shop to sort my laptop we hit the city centre and caught up on some much needed clothes shopping. Thereafter we climbed Steep Hill to the medieval quarter surrouding the cathedral. A very pleasant city with a Roman history too and some roman features remain.
The high ground is dominated by the cathedral and its associated buildings - the obligatory scaffolding covering the front of the cathedral at low level - and the Castle.
The commercial city centre below the medieval quarter straddles the River Witham with a quite interesting waterfront and marina.
