Warsash

We dusted off our EH membership cards and booked ourselves in for a visit to Porchester Castle. A bitingly cold day with a sharp wind under a blue sky.
The audio guide for the castle keep was most interesting - covering the early history of the site as a stronghold for the Kings of England, as they prepared for wars with the French et al, and its use as a prison for captured foe.
We climbed up into the keep prior to descending down a beautifully engineered spiral staircase.
We walked along the Porchester Castle trail outside the old fort which took us along the banks of the harbour. Czytaj więcej
