Big Adventure

On Sunday we drove to Bridport and parked up near Lidl on the northern side of the town. We then walked to West Bay alongside the Brit Valley in the sunshine emerging by the promenade after passing through the large caravan site. There were no Cruise Liners to be seen in the bay, the first time for many months.
We walked over he hill behind us on Tuesday to Beaminster where we picked up a prescription then returned via the lane via Meerhay. Some brave soul was coming down the lane in a small Suzuki jeep (carrying L plates) which was very bold given the state of the track. We did not linger to see if he was able to get down the rather large step in the track that we had to negotiate on foot - he was already grounding the sump way on the rough track before he reached the crunch point.
On Thursday we picked a gap in the weather front to reprise the walk we completed on Karen's birthday. This time we did the route in reverse order.We waited in the car until a large shower passed through then set off up the very steep hill to the top of the Ridgeway. This time the views were clear from the top of the hill and we thought we might manage the whole walk without a soaking. There was a very strong cold wind blowing, one moment from the East then the next from the South West. As we approached Common Water Lane the sky grew very dark and we ended up having to shelter from a quite sharp hail and sleet shower behind a tree. It soon passed through, however, and we completed our walk in the dry, the wind blowing dampness out of our clothes.En savoir plus
