Egg, jamon, cheese sandwich for 2nd breakfast 😋Can you see it?2Lots of these tall green leafy vegetables in the gardens around here. The clouds threatened, but never released a drop on me all day.So many mossey green rock walls!1I'm glad I took the complementario route from PortomarinTiny salamander, maybe 2", pole for scale1I tried moving him off the trail, to wet grass1

    To Gonzar

Saw a salamander and a cool lizard today. And lots of cows. Made it to Gonzar, not a town maybe just a place to sleep and eat. Nice room. Finally met a pal that was part of our WhatsApp group I had not met in person. We shared a “cheese table” 🤣 more cheese than we needed.

Been seeing tons of happy rhododendrons this weekEucalyptus farm. Booooo.

    Through Palas de Rei

Pretty walk today. Crowds not too bad. Weather was perfect! (Haha we whine when it gets over 70°). Stopped at San Cristibal for a cerveza. 🍺 Casa Domingo currently almost empty. So staying in offstage towns seems to be a good plan.

Heard from my buddy Don from Ohio, he made it to Santiago cathedral today! He’s the first from our main group to make it.

    Casa Domingo - Ponte Campaña

Made it to Casa Domingo today. 23km per Fitbit. Makes me grin because it reminds me of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLn5qNngGn4.

    Rustic cool vibe here.

    To Arzúa

Getting close! Today I passed the 40km marker. Guy on bunk next to me joined the Francés from the Camino Norte today. I’m in a bunk albergue again today. These are nice though, built with stairs on each side.

Staying at Los 3 Abetos albergue in Arzúa. They have some nice doggos that are very good beggars.

    Through Melide

Melide apparently has some of the best octopus. Pulpo. But I did not try any. 16mi walk. Rained for a few minutes but was nice and cool most of the day - perfect.

    My tent for the night
SO CROWDED!! But this was the biggest crowd I saw tbh.Storks! Been a while since I've seen themYou walk under the horreo here. Where I had 2nd breakfastNo thanksTook a rest about 9/10th done for the day

    O Pedrouzo

I am not quite into O Pedrouzo. Glamping in a tent! The tent is awesome, comes with two beds, so I am wasting. There’s a big bar with a really tasty sangria on tap, the common Spanish frozen pizzas, and other super fancy food 🤣

Fidel, the nice owner moved up from Southern Spain, renovated this place and opened it two months ago he says. Pretty cool idea. I found it on booking . com
A couple weeks ago, and told some of my Camino friends, and I know three people who have stayed here on previous days. I should get a commission!

Met a nice librarian, Vivian from Calgary, in the tent next-door, and Ralph from Germany is here as well.
Tomorrow is the big day! I will be done walking!

    119.7km to go
20km right outside my tent city. Saw this one 3 times...Purple in real lifeMany eucalyptus forestsMajority of "forests" I see are planted in perfect rowsKm 15 bar/cafeI have seen many huge very bright rhododendrons here in GaliciaMade it! (To the edge of town)

    Last day walking!

Didn’t leave until almost 9am! Unheard of! But my theory was, I was before a major town so I would let all the people in the major stage Town leave and I would have more quiet trails to myself. It pretty much worked. I still saw lots of people but it didn’t get as crowded. I also forgot to put my tent padlock key in the key box on the way out so I had to hike an extra couple kilometers when I realized I had to go back. D’oh!

Fantastic, congratulations Chris!!!!!!! What a gorgeous day to arrive. I hope you take the time to go inside the Cathedral, it's well worth your time. Your arrival and hearing the bagpiper, took me back to our experience entering the plaza. Even just walking on the Camino for 10km I found it an emotional experience, imagining what all you pilgrims who walk for days and or weeks must be feeling!!:) So happy for you!

    Finisterre

Bus tour to Finisterre (the end of the world, from Roman point of view) and also to Muxia. We saw the longest horrio (grain storage Galician small building thing) in the world. And only European waterfall that falls into the ocean water.

    Porto

Took the bus from Santiago to Porto. Under 3 hours. Had a nice Canadian lady next to me. Nice green country most of the way. In Porto, struggled with bag on metro and up many hills and stairs. (Should have taken uber) Then I went on a port wine tour, learned way too much about port wine but also some interesting Portuguese history. On the way back to my room at “A Portuguese Guest House” these two nights, I stopped for Ramen.

    Porto day 2

My long adventure is really almost over now. I spent a second day in Porto. In the morning I went to the Mercado do Bolhão where I had some tasty Pastel de Nata (Custard Tart) and yummy small squarish empanada type thing filled with Portuguese stew. I love trying all these different foods!

After that I did a last-minute three hour walking tour, learn lots of history and saw lots of architecture and other fun stuff. It’s really nice here today in the 70s. Grabbed a Pãu for lunch, to keep the Portuguese food tasting experience going.

For dinner I had to try one more iconic Porto dish, this one is the Guede. Pictures here.
