What a lovely spot,we have enjoyed our 2 nights here. Fishing and kayaking while here. Put locks on the van so we could unhook and expolre. Some beauitful old homes plenty of shops. And stunning weather.Les mer

So so much space here, what an amazing spot. There is 3 sites here, site 1 has flush toilets, sites 2 and 3 long drops.the selwyn river runs along side the camp so at the entrence of the sites is a low bridge and a great little please for kids to play in the river, big kids can also cool off in there. Such a nice place to sit back and enjoy the freedom of the outdoors. Maggie agrees this is a great place to stay.
You can stay upto 28 days at a time,
Has toilets
Non drinking water
Has lge bins for rubbish, no recycling bins.
Only down side at the moment is all the Dandelion floating around.Les mer

Our latest stop.
Timaru TOP 10 Holiday Park
After stopping at 3 freedom spots along the way we ended up here.
Very fiendly staff, there even came round to let campers know they were going to remove an old tree stump there will be some noise. We have spend 2 peaseful nights here, other campers are also friendly. As I walked around camp this after noon I found 2 kitchens, 3 toilet blocks 2 dump stations, even a bridge to another part of the camp. We even found eels in the stream. Theres plenty to do as the beach is a short walk away, kids playground.Les mer

This lovely spot is right at the beach. Great fishing spot woth rig and elyfish being cought while we were there. Its a gravel area with a little grass. There are rubbish bins here, nothing else, 2 night stay per month. Train down across the road but it didnt bother us. We meet a guy camping here that sent our fish line out with his drone.Les mer

Kurow island free spot

We were heading to kurow golf club for a 1 night stop over, but drove past this lovely stop with 1 camper oarked up. We decided to check it out, so between the road and a wire fence you can stay, no camping beyond wire as doc land stating no camping. Pack in pack out. The waimati river is in two and joins together down the track abit.Les mer

Such a lovel spot right on the bank of the canel, traffic noise during the day. Nzmca membrs only.
Keep chain across. Pack in pack out here. No toilets. 10 mintue drive to Twizal township. We meet some lovely people here as well.wirelees nation and phone service. Sorry to say no fish for us.Les mer

A look around our neighbourhood on a stunner of a day. A 3 night stay at a freedom camp on the Lake Ruataniwha near Twizel. Pack in pack out, very little spark cover here for phone and wireless nation.

Disappointing to see the lake so low, from camp we walked across to the lake, inclose was mud, we did how ever find the remains of the old homestead that was cool as we found some neat old bottles sadly broken and square nails.
Back at camp not one of our favs due to people able to walk or bike through the camp.pack in pack out. Good wifi and cell coverage.Les mer

Nice place, was going to stay till the 22nd but due to no phone service and very little wireless nation we decided to make it a 1 nighter. Its right next to the selwyn river, has toilets and 3 large rubbish bins, bbq and untreated water. We are the only caravan here the rest are tents. It wouls be a very cool place on hot summer days with the large trees.Les mer

Lake Pearson campsite

Was going to spend xmas here, but due to not being very keen on the last stop we headed here. So nice here in The mountains, large lake to paddle around in along with fishing. Plenty of trees for shelter from the sun. Says no dogs, but people turn up with dogs, and ranger said maggie was ok as on her lead. The young ducklings are sweet to. Long drop toilets here and non drinking water, no rubbish so pack in pack out.. If you head out on the lake take care as can be hard to get back if the wind picks up.Les mer

Freedom spot at the beach just off the main road. Heaps of wekas, dont leave anything outside or the wekas will take it. Great fishing as we have already found out with snapper and rig. 3 nights max stay, pack in pack out, better for smaller vans but on saying that we got in buy parking lenghways then another bigger rig came in and parked up next to us.Les mer

Right next to the beach, rubbish only here, dump station about 5 mins up the road. Biking track just over the fence. Freedom camping outside the gate on the right that has long drop toilets, bbqs. Very tidy area.Les mer

Very busy camp but very nice here, plenty of spaces to park up. Long drop toilets and non drinking water tap. Pack in pack out. Wireless nation but no cell service. Book online or pay cash onsite. There are bike/ walking tracks. The short walk is just to the old cematery.Les mer

Compact camp holds 52 vans, was packed each night we were there. Water and rubbish on site. 40 mins drive to Nelson. Shipwreck down the road. Nice berry farm about 5 mins away.

This has become no 1 on our list of most favorite stops. Located next to the Yacht club. The landscape is very cool, amazing bays and beaches. Plenty of places to swim, fish and gather seafood. The park itself, has water but must boil. Room for 40 vans, 1 bar up on spark. For non nzmca members there is a top10 down the road.Les mer

Plenty of space here to parkup. Campers, caravans, car sleepers coming and going but half the time we didnt hear them. Big sandflies but this isnt the only place they are at. A short walk to the river with a swimming hole or keen for a walk, theres a walking track to lake Daniel. Pack in pack out here. There are 3 long drop toilets here and non drinking water. No phone coverage and little wifi. But dont let that put you off.Les mer

Just a short visit here, Went to the vintage for tea, lovely meal in the old post office. Staying at the nzmca park, pack in pack out here. There is a nice little river to cool off at the back of the park.Les mer

1 night stay over at this pop, lovely people, Rob showed us his cars some he has rebuilt. Lots of old car parts around and a couple of sheep. Well feed sheep.

We love this place, not alot stay, fishing is great. Drone fishing even better as you can got your line out.
2 night allowed, no one comes to check. There are 2 rubbish bins here only. Others have had fires on the beach. A train runs along this side of the road but dont hear it at night.
