    Rocky mountain high

    August 1, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

After taking a day and a half just to get out of Texas, we finally made it to cooler weather in the Colorado rockies. We spent some time hiking and driving in rocky Mountain national park (NP #5 the trip). The park was pretty awesome with the highest continuous road in the US at over 12,000'. It was actually on the brink of snowing and down to lower 40s, when down at the bottom it was mid 80s. The real gem of the area though was brainard lake recreational area and campground. This was about 1 hour south of the park and there was practically zero crowds and the views, trails, wildlife and fishing were outstanding. We really didn't want to leave. One thing we've realized is that the US forest service run campgrounds are better than the national parks campgrounds. The new trailer is working out great. It's so awesome to have the comforts of home wherever you go.Read more
