    Cooking Classes and Old Town

    19 mars, Vietnam ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

At 9pm the day before, a friend whom I met on the Ha Giang Loop sent me a phone number for a cooking class, which I immediately wrote.
Not much later, they confirmed that they had space for the morning class the next day. Something I love in SE-Asia - the flexibility.

So we got picked up the next morning, headed to the market, got explained a bunch of stuff before they put us into coconut boats - a popular destination in Hoi An.
It was fun to watch, going through the different canals and watching the other people. There were even people singing karaoke.

Then we got to the actual cooking class. We learned a lot about how to cook different types of vietnamese dishes, such as vietnamese pancakes, papaya and mango salad, fresh and fried springrolls, pho and sticky rice with mango.
It was absolutely delicious (and not just because I was super hungry). And all of this for only 450k, best 15CHF ever spent!
We had a lot of fun, said a lot of mhh and oooh and laughed a lot.
Our teachers Tony and Sam, a married couple, were super lovely. Yummy!

Back in our hotel, we got into a food coma, just laying on the bed. At some point, I tried to get Linda and Jamina up, but instead, I just got pulled into their bed.
It was our last evening together, so I did try to savour every moment.

But then I made them get up and we walked to a cafe where we would meet Oliver.

Sounds familiar? Oliver is the guy I met in Japan and later in Thailand. We realized we are gonna be in Vietnam at the same time. When we even ended up being in Hoi An at the same time, we knew we needed to meet somehow.
Which is why me and my friends met him for coffee, were we caught up on what we have been doing since last time we saw each other and what else we have been up to.

After cafe, we decided it is time for a bar, where the five of us would celebrate our last evening together (Linda and Jamina leaving to Ho Chi Minh the next day and me and Andre leaving for Phong Nha, leaving Oliver behind).
We went to the Mr. Bean bar, since it was called Mr. Bean bar (ha).

Party was certainly going on, we were drinking, singing, dancing, laughing and more for several hours.
At half one in the morning we decided it was time to go home (but not before Jamina and I shared a Banh Mi), so I said goodbye to Oliver and we went on our merry way.

It certainly was a good last evening with my friends :)

    Wow!
