• Colours of the Holi Festival

    14. mars, India ⋅ ☁️ 29 °C

We were so lucky to experience the Hindu festival of Holi - The Festival of Colours.
A two day festival which on Day Two the coloured paints flow and the water pistols fire!
We were finger painted and hugged from the moment we stepped out of our guest house on Havelock Island to when we retreated to our hut on Neil Island ten hours later!
An amazing festival "marking the arrival of spring, the triumph of good over evil and the blossoming of love" 🫶
Seeing people so happy, playful, and relaxed was a completely different perspective to our experience of India to date.
I think being painted made us less scary to the local kids, who seemed to enjoy painting us from their bags of coloured powders!
And, it only only took 3 washes to get the paint out of our clothes 😂
Special for : Being able to witness and be included in such a special day in person, not via a screen.
