Despite our night bus dropping us off 40 minutes early at 4.40am and walking a gauntlet of wild dogs in the dark both armed with sticks, we made it to Patenem beach and found 2 beach loungers to doze on until the sun came up.
We'd met a German couple in Hampi who took accommodation research to the next level of thorough.
They'd checked every accommodation place on Patenem Beach and chosen Mickey's Naughty Corner as the best one and raved about it.
Why waste good research, so we booked in there too!
