  • The Dome

We drove to our hotel just blocks from the Duomo. This isn't the Metrodome. lol. 500+ steps to top. Short tour, then it was sweat-filled march that took about 15 min to reach the top.

Some how our VW didn't match the sophisticated Dior shop.

  • Firenze in a Flash

Not enough time in this Renaissance city!
We did it fast and furiously. Next time we’ll need at least 3 days… highlights were the David and climbing all the way to top of the Duomo and of course dinner at Ristaurante de Desco 🇮🇹❤️

  • See Ya Seina

Seina is a time warped city. It definitely has a strong Medeival look and feel. Tricia and I debated whether the large metal rings attached to buildings were for the reins of a horse or for strapping up the trouble makers like Jesus was affixed to the cross. This was a hot and a long walk into the city. Let your imagination take you.

  • Taste of Tuscany

Today we’re off to visit Montalcino (meaning mountains of oaks), a region in Tuscany known for its Brunello red wines. We’ll be two more wine - loving tourists in the mix of it.

The last two evenings we spent in the country side. Wednesday night we were in a villa outside of Arezzo and last night was at La Sovana resort in Sarteano. Most beautiful properties of our trip so far.

After our vineyard tour today, we sleep in Rome our last two nights.

  • 26,000 Roman Steps

Rome surprised us with the fun, ambiance and history. and yes we walked 26,000 steps on our big day on Saturday. Keep in mind we took the cab twice. It could have been more. First nite dinner was fantastic. Cute, reasonable and hard working. You appreciate that because u sense when people are not passionate about their customer. Not so much the second nite.

Our last stroll thru Italy to the Spanish steps was a beauty. The random Opera singers were off the charts. Mr fake bush/for was my favorite tourist gimmick...and we saw many. It was warm but comfortable and folks were out

the extra security on our door was interesting. Should we be worried? Our hotel had ivy from top to bottom. Piazza Navona was completely empty early on Sunday. And the massive wall of chocolate at the gelato location was impressive. I thought the door on the building in the forum ruins was interesting.

    Ciao Italy!

  • Tour de France

Bon jour! Everyone made it home except me and my personal carry on luggage. Our flight on Monday was delayed, then cancelled. Tricia called and rebooked, for both of us. But I was texting delta and they rebooked me separately. Which i didn't request or confirm. Consequently, i was never booked on Tricia's flight and when we double checked we found out I was booked on another flight and the flight left in five min across the airport...and no other flights avail. Arghhh!

So, i said my goodbyes, took the train to town w two transfers 40+ stops, hot and busy, booked a room at a boutique hotel and spent 2 hours touring Paris on a Lime ebike. I just missed seeing a kid get hit by a car on a bike. He was on a suicide mission, after watching him cross a fleet of cars accelerating by inches, he apparently met his match w a taxi moments later. blooded but seemed ok.

It was a tour de force of bikes around Paris. Plenty of bike lanes and i usually followed someone. Funny thing...i had an impromptu bathroom break in the bushes along the famous street champs-elysees. 😂 Pictures of the sites are cool. You actually can get around easier and faster than a car. It was a race against daylight and my battery on my phone to keep the bike going and so i could find my way back to the hotel. I made it with 1 percent left on the phone. Without a phone, i had no map. My backup portable charger was toast too. I was trucking fast back from the Cathedral of Notre Dame, under the Eiffel tower and along the river.

I had dinner down the street and sat next to a younger guy from Korea. He studied in st Louis and went to high school in Orange County, but lives Seoul now. He loves Madrid soccer and was traveling this week to watch a match. He helped me navigate the french language on the menu, while breathing his cigarette smoke.

After the bike, I came away more impressed with Paris. Neat little neighborhoods, great tourist sites and wonderful architecture. I didn't realize u could visit the top of the arc de triumph

    Au Revoir Paris.
