12 miles was all today. Left Middens Creek at 8am, and arrived at Cape Lookout shortly after 10a. Beautifully calm day. We anchored in Barden Inlet in front of the Cape Lookout lighthouse and kayaked and kaboated into shore to walk on the beach and visit the lighthouse and keepers quarters. Back to the boats for lunch. Bill and Mike moved across the small bay here over closer to the ocean side. I stayed here to read and watch the sunbathers. Lol. Coming into Barden Inlet, we passed Shackleford Island and were treated to the view of several wild horses. The USCGC Richard Snyder is anchored over on the other side of Barden Inlet from where I’m at. This will be the last night of our trip. Tomorrow we’ll be back at the boat ramp where are rigs are, about 10 miles away. As you look at the pictures of the Cape Lookout Lighthouse, the interesting thing about this lighthouse is that the diamonds represent direction. The white diamonds face east-west, while the black diamonds face north-south.Læs mere
