    To pamplona

    June 4, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 54 °F

While walking to pamplona we had an amazing opportunity to ring one of the oldest bells in the region. It might be before the 13th century. Left zubiri around 730 and got to pamplona around 300. Was able to just walk in and get a bed. Had pinxo for dinner and found an amazing mojeto.Read more

    Pamplona to punte la reania

    June 5, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 55 °F

Nice walk out of pamplona. Met up with Dom and walked with him off and on. Made it up to alto de perdon and headed down the other side of the rocky landscape. Had a nice conversation with a lady from New York. We list her as we got into punte la reina. Went to the municipal albergue there. It was around 2 and still got a bed. The albergue was nice and it only cost 7 euro. By luck we got the top bunk of a room for 8. It was one of the worst beds I have ever had. It made a load noise every time I rolled over. The guy under neath was snoring and I kept rolling. Then the room got hot because someone closed the window. We got up when they did and left around 6.

I met up with Dom and Clemens for a drink while they had first dinner. Once we were done Dom went to the church and Clemens went to shower and take a nap.

Walked around town and found a place for dinner for later. Had my first maxibon. Dom and I had a nice menu of the day. I had meat lessons and then salmon with French fries. It was good for 12:50.

Today was a nice fairly easy walk. There was some big inclines out of puente. We stopped at the second town because the first one. When I got there, there was a guy that was walking down the street with his arms full of freshly baked chocolate crayons. They were amazing. He also had a group of dogs following him. The rest of the day went well. We are staying at albergue anfans. Really nice for 10 euros. Had a Kebab for lunch/dinner. Had a few drinks and wondered around town. Went in to the church for the first time.Read more

    Estelle to sunsol

    June 7, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 61 °F

We started from our albergue around 7 because we were told by another person that the wine fountain doesn't open till 8. So we planned on making at 8. It was a nice walk on the way there. We stopped at the blacksmith shop right before it. I got the shell necklace that German Jena wanted. She is still not doing well with her infection from her blisters. She bussed to logrono and we will meet up with her tomorrow. There is a festival going on on Friday. So that means a lot of people will be out on Thursday when we get in. After the wine fountain we took the alternate route. The people I was with on purpose. I sorta wasn't paying attention and did it on accident. So many great memories along the other way. The alternate way was nice. It went more off of the road and only had one place to stop before Los arcos. I walked with Dom, cat, and Chelsea today. Once both trails met up we say some people playing music. Dom started to dance. He threw his poles down with passion. After that there was not a lot going on till we came across a food truck. A bunch of people stopped there to get a drink. I had an Aquarius and a beer. After that I walked with Clemens and Cat for a while. We played "I packed in my backpack". He started with an apple. It went on for longer then I thought it would. Then we came into Los arcos. Saw a bunch of baby animals and feed them some bread. Made it into the main square and split a picture of sangria. When we were sitting there we ran into Carson. She then decided to come with us to Sansol. We are all staying at an old Palace. I booked it online and I think it cost 19 dollars. Nice place with a room with 6 beds. There was a pilgrims minu for 13 euro and after reading reviews and I didn't get the meal. The guy that was working tried to hard sell us on the meal. It was some kind of soup, tortilla, and yogurt for dessert. After we refused the meal we went down to the bar and had a ham and cheese sandwich and a chocolate croissants with a glass of wine for 750. We came back to the Palace and Dom was not to happy with the meal. But with the hard sell and nothing much more he took what he could get. Tomorrow we should get into logrono around 12 and we will see where the rest of the day takes us.Read more

    Hospital to astorga

    June 23, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 57 °F

Had a easy day today. We slept in a bit and started walking around 730. We got into astorga at 12. We had lunch at one of the places on the square. I had a pretty decent crispy burrito. Then we walked down to find churros. On the way there we stopped at a vermouth bar. It was pretty tasty. I had one that had a mango finsh. Then we walked around town trying to find them the one place we tried to go to was closed. We found another one. The chocolate was good but the churros were old. One we were done with that we walked over to the gudi building and did a walk through of that. It was neat to be able to go through it a second time. Then we went to the church it was a neat walk through. I whis I brought my headphones with me. I took them out right before we left. Other places are getting away from the audio and just using a qr code and you can just use your phone. After that I got some ice cream and wanted to take a minute and have one more drink. And to watch the bells.Read more

    Foncebadon to Ponferrada

    June 25, 2023 in Spain ⋅ 🌙 61 °F

Great walk up to the Iron Cross. The rest of the hike was beautiful. It was really hard on the downhill parts. Got a private room in Ponferrada. It is okay. Whis I got a room on the other side of the building. I don't know if the ac doesn't really work or it's part of the save energy. Left the window open most of the night. Had a nice dinner at a Mexican restaurant with some really good frozen margaritas. Went to the castle also.Read more

    Ponferrada to villafranca

    June 26, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 59 °F

Great day. Slept in a little bit. Didn't sleep well. The room was way to hot. I don't think the ac really didn't work. Left the little hotel at about 7. Walk about an hour to the next town. I ran into Kat. I found some of the drawings that some of my camino family did in 2017. I tried the more direct path this time along the road. It eas faster but I did miss out on som awesome views. Got into town and got a beer to wait for mekala and Jana. Then we checked into our awesome hostel and went down to the river. Had a few drinks and jumped into the river. We hang out there for a while. Then we came back to take showers and do laundry. We had a great meal. I had pasta with tuna and the a steak for dinner.Read more
