    Day 3 Boston: USS Constitution

    Visited USS Constitution. The USS Constitution, nicknamed "Old Ironsides", is the world's oldest commissioned warship still afloat. It was launched in 1797 and is a living museum and a popular tourist attraction in Boston, MA. Sadly the ship wasn't open for guest today, apparently there are specific days of the week they open on.

    We strolled down to the USS Cassin Young a WWII destroyer. Access was also closed but the guide had opened it for some veterans visiting so we also strolled in and got a good look at half of the ship including the crew sleeping bunks before we were chased out.

    Next was the museum dedicated to USS Constitution which had a lot of information on the 1812 war with the British navy which the ship participated it.

    Our last stop for the day was Quincy Market for some Boston food before calling it a day prior to that we stopped at the Boston Sign for a photo moment.    Read more

    Day 4 Boston: Beach & Aquarium

    My sleep was disrupted at 5 am by a call from my GM, and I couldn't go back to sleep again. Shortly after 10 am, I decided to seek the Revere Beach, which Airbnb said was close to the apartment.

    The Beach is located about 5 mins walk from the apartment and has a very long broadwalk with lots of resting huts every few kilometers. I walked the entire length up to Revere Police Station and the train station before turning around and walking back home.

    By the time I got back to the apartment, Enobong had completed her school work and made breakfast, so I ate, and we headed off to the New England Aquarium.

    The main display at the aquarium is the massive, cylindrical tank, 4 stories high in the middle of the museum, which presents an ecosystem of different types of fish and marine plants and organisms.

    Leaving the museum we headed off to the gift shop at Boston common to buy some Boston fridge magnets after which we crossed over to Dunkin Donuts for a quick snack before returning to relax at Boston Common park hill. As we were set to leave the park I noticed on the map a lake in the other section of the park across the road so we decided to head there first and we were blown away by the serene beauty of the lake. We came across two couples having their pre-wedding photo shoot.

    Rounded off the day with a visit to Apex Rooftop Bar and Lounge with Anetor. This is a karaoke bar. It was crowded when we got there but eased out after an hour.    Read more

    Day 5 Boston: MIT & Havard Museums visit

    Our first stop was MIT museum which featured one time cutting edge scientific inventions like robot arms, robots, AI, space tech, etc. The museum was small and the display limited. From the museum, we set off to locate the School of Engineering which was just an office looking building with not label. MIT is located in Cambridge in office like buildings and didn't have the University vibe. We gave up trying to locate the iconic and famous MIT dome building and decided to dash off to Havard museum before they close.

    We got to Havard museum 45mins before their closing time. The museum has a massive, diverse collection of artifacts including the famous Havard Matado found in 1840. There was an extensive collection of animals from around the world on display. We rushed through the museum in order to see as much exhibits as was possible in the limited time we had.

    Day 6 Boston: Salem Witch Museum

    Left the apartment at 9:45 am determined to put in some steps to burn some of the excess calories from the vacation. My walk started from Revere Beach Blvd - Wintrop Parkway roundabout and ended at the Carer cir roundabout a distance of about 5km about 1hr walk. Along the way, there are relaxation spots to rest and shops selling drinks and foods across the road.

    On my return to the apartment I rested, ate, showered and left for the day's main attraction, the Salem Witch Museum. We strolled along the Revere beach to the Wonderland bus station where we took bus 755 down to Salem. The bus ride was almost 1hr with over 60 stops along the way.

    The Salem Witch Museum focuses on the Witch Trials of 1692. The museum is based on the actual documents of the trials.    Read more

    Bye bye Boston

    After a week of engaging and very interesting sightseeing around the freedom capital of America it was time to say bye and move in to the 4th and final city of my 1 month, 2 countries and 4 city tour of Northern America.

    Anetor picked us up at 7:39am. We had woken up early to pack our suitcases and clear up the Airbnb. The trip from Boston to Philadelphia was going to take us 5hrs 30mins. Anetor had assumed we should be able to make it on a single full charge in his electric car, but alas, it wasn't possible.

    The ride was smooth, and there was a few traffic congestion on the road, one caused by an accident while others were due to road construction. We stopped over at Connecticut to charge the batteries and finally arrived in Philly at Enobong's apartment shortly before 3pm.    Read more

    Day 1 Philadelphia: Grocery shopping

    Spent most of the day recuperating in the apartment after the long road trip the previous day. Used the opportunity to do some laundry as well.

    Shortly before 6 pm, we left the house to go buy grocery for the week.

    Walked to the bus stop and took a bus to the nearest ACME store. While walking to the store, we came across a Wendy's restaurant, so we stopped over for a burger and a drink
    The chicken burger was nice.

    On getting back to the apartment, Enobong prepared Egusi soup, which wasn't ready till past 11pm.    Read more

    Day 2 Philadelphia: Downtown Philly walk

    September 22, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

    Took the regional train to Philadelphia City Hall. Walked around admiring the old beautiful buildings, statues, monuments, and love park. Thereafter I took the long walk down to Philadelphia Museum of Arts. Lots of photo moments along the walk. I stopped on the famous Rocky stairs, snapped a couple of pics and made some videos before heading off to the bus stop.

    After waiting for over 30mins at the bus stop with the bus not turning up, I decided to walk down to another stop for a different bus along the way I crossed the road and took bus 32 going in the opposite direction, hoping it will get to the end and turn but alas it kept going so I got off repeated the same mistake on bus 49 before eventually getting on the right bus going in the right direction to Surburban train station at city centre.     Day 3 Philadelphia: Exercise & Walmart

    Went on a 2hr early morning walk round the neighbourhood and into Thomas Jefferson University. It was a refreshing walk and I covered over 7,000 steps. Unfortunately, my exercise tracking app Strava developed a fault and crashed while monitoring.

    Later in the afternoon, I took the bus to the nearest Walmart, and again, like yesterday, Google Map directed me to the wrong bus stop and the bus I boarded moved in the opposite direction to where I wanted to go, so I had to alight cross over to the opposite side of the road and look for the bus stop.

    After completing my shopping at Walmart Google Map again directed me to a spot which wasn't a bus stop. I had to walk back along that side of the road to locate the bus stop. Lesson: Don't trust Google Map in Philadelphia.    Read more

    Day 5 Philadelphia: Constitutional Tour

    Joined the 75mins constitutional walking tour which commenced at 12noon. Tour guide was quite knowledgeable even though occasionally digressing to unrelated topics. We walked by the monuments rather quickly with insufficient time to read the story behind each one and we didn't go into any of the historic buildings. She also didn't want the tour narratives videoed.

    Took the train & bus to Spruce Street Habour Park layer in the evening, sadly it was a ghost town there all the waterfront bars and restaurants weren't opened. It was a wasted outing.

    Day 6 Philadelphia: Bank & Cira Green

    First stop was the bank to update my account details, I got convinced to open a savings account.

    Then, off to the love garden for a photo moment.

    Finally, we walked from the love garden to Cira Green, a rooftop park, stopping along the way at CVS to buy a hot water bottle.

    Cira Green is advertised a "Park in the Sky". It is an urban park with free entry and open all year-round. With a big screen for movies and sporting events. There is a restaurant which sells burgers, fries, and drinks. From the top, you get a very good view of Schukull River and the roads beside it and bridges crossing.    Read more

    Day 7 Philadelphia: Barbecue dinner

    A quick dash to Marshalls to buy some last minute stuff. The bus ride from the apartment was 45mins. I spent barely 15 mins in the store before commencing the 45 min trip back.

    Took a Lyft to my friend's home on the outskirt of Philadelphia. He prepared Lamb and beef barbecue and also served us Jollof rice prepared by the wife. Hada lovely time catching up.Read more

    Bye bye Philly

    Woke up early to pack my suitcases, as expected they were overweight and I had to move some shoes into the hard back and denser clothes like jeans and towel. Finally achieved 22.7 & 22.5kg for the suitcases.

    Flight was postponed by about an hour. Plane finally pushed back from the gate at 19:15hrs die to flight congestions. Finally took off at 19;43 hrs    Read more

    Connecting through Frankfurt

    After a 6hr+ flight, we landed at Frankfurt Airport Germany. Due to the delayed take-off from Philadelphia, I had barely 1 hour at the airport as boarding for Nigeria was to commence at 10:15.

    Boarding started much later as they spent considerable time checking our travel documents. I wasn't able to eat anything as I had to buy chocolates and check for perfume for Etete. Unfortunately, I didn't see the brands he requested.

    Abuja passengers drop - off

    Landed in Abuja at 16:27 to drop off the Abuja passengers. Most passengers on board dropped with few of us continuing to Port Harcourt. Push back from the gate was at 17:10 and lift up at 17:

    Finally back to Port Harcourt

    Landed Port Harcourt at 18:09. Immigration process was quick. My suitcases took considerable time to come out. The porters were more interested in attending to foreigners. Customs was problem as they tried to extort money from me under the guise of having electronics in my suitcase, I was able to talk to them and proceeded out of the airport where the company protocol officer was waiting for me with a jeep, driver and police escort van.
