    Going Home

    September 24, 2018 in Nigeria ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

Woke up at 4 am, had my bath, packed my suite case, did a walk round the room to ensure I wasn’t forgetting anything and then took the elevator down to the lobby where I paid my extra bills before taking an Uber to the airport.

Security in Kenya is tight. You exit the vehicle at the airport gate, walk through metal detectors before re-entering the vehicle to continue to the terminal building. At the entrance into the terminal building you go through metal detector and pass your suitcase through an x-ray machine.

Kenya airways operates an automated self check-in, where passengers print their own boarding pass from a terminal and walk down to the counter to drop their check-in luggage. My luggage was 2 kg overweight fortunately I had suspected and bought a hand luggage at Two Rivers mall the previous day, so I transferred the slippers and shoes into it.

After check-in we went through a metal detector to get to the departure hall where I spent my last Kenyan shillings buying Kenyan caps for the kids.

Flight departed Nairobi around 8:33 am arriving Lagos at 11:25 am. Within 30 mins I was through Immigration, picked up my luggage and out of the airport. Pretty fast.

My connecting flight to Port Harcourt also left on time and by 6 pm I was back home in my house.
