Kyoto day 7 part 2

We decided on a slower day today, which took in booking all of our train transport for the rest of our holiday. This took well over two hours🤪

Today, we travelled from Kyoto to Kii-Tanabe. From here, we start the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Trail tomorrow morning
The predicted forecast is for 36°C and sunny 🌞
Today, we started the Kumano Kodo Trail. It was a tough day of walking with temperatures in the mid-30s and a very steep gradient.
We covered 22km in about 9 hours
Today was another long, hot day of hiking. But once again, the scenery was beautiful.
On the last part of the hike, we were lucky enough to see an Asiatic Black Bear. It crossed the trail about 15 mtMeer informatie
Today was a rest day in Hongu
It was very welcome
We visited the Kumano Hongu Taisha Otorii, the largest torii gates in Japan
From there, we went and received our dual pilgrim certificates at theMeer informatie
We walked from Hongu to Yunomine via a mountain pass to our new accommodation at J Hoppers with its own private onsens
We also bathed in the World Heritage listed Tsuboyo Onsen. Recognised as one ofMeer informatie
