Peaceful Bay Caravan Park
Jan 9–10 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C
We are able to move onto our campsite this morning. We've been allocated site F, so we go suss it out without bringing in the caravan just yet. Glad we did this, as it took abit of working out how the site 'works'. Works out well - Roger could drive the caravan through to park in position, and he decides as we're here just for the 1 night, to leave the ute hitched. We set ourselves up, then have our lunch. Leftover taco mince on toast for me, and taco mince in fresh sandwiches for Roger. We then finish off the rockyroad and have some fresh fruit.
We decide to get into our bathers and head to the beach - across the road about 50mts away.
We come back about 2.30pm. We now relax outside our van - reading. I enjoy watching the little wrens flitting about our camp and surrounds. Roger goes and has a shower, then we both go for a walk around this caravan park. It's quite large for this small community, and the sites are very casual - I'd need help to know each site's boundaries! Nice amenities (no oven in the camp kitchen though) and a children's playground.
We have decided to order the Peaceful Bay Fish & Chips for our tea tonight - you have to preorder - so we do, Roger having Snapper and chips $27 and I'm having squid and chips $16. We're told they'll be ready to pick up at 6.40pm. I go have my shower, then Roger and I go for a walk in Peaceful Bay streets, checking out the residences - plenty of holiday shacks for sure. Time our return to collect our tea - we sit at the outdoor tables near the cafe and enjoy every mouthful of it - delicious. Head back to our camp. Relax, then tidy up. Just writing this up and then I'll go to bed like Rog.
End up watching 'Red One' on Prime - not bad Christmas movie.
10/01/25 Friday. Wake up and Roger wishes me a very happy birthday - off to a good start for sure! I get up and go for a walk - using the All Trails App, and have chosen to walk The Gap Track, Peaceful Bay which states a 7+km loop walk - easy - allow 1.5hrs. Maybe I should have realised by the time allowed that it wouldn't be quite as easy as I thought! Anyway turns out to be a fair amount of walking in soft sand - which I find quite a workout - especially as I took no water with me (normally an easy 7km early in the morning I can do without it - just have a decent drink before I go which I did). Luckily for me I got a phonecall from Robert when I was about half way - he rang for my birthday - he 'copped my winge' about my walk - and I felt so happy that he rang I settled into the walk and really enjoyed it after that. I left at about 6.15am and got back just after 8am - it was a decent morning walk. Rog has kindly got porridge ready - waiting for us to eat together ❤️ After this lovely breakfast I decide to go for a quick swim before I have a shower. The water was great once I was in - then I wanted to stay, but kept it quick as I know Roger's ready for us to get going. Go back to camp, shower and get organised to leave - we head off about 9.30amRead more
