Coffin Bay Caravan Park
12–15 févr., Australie ⋅ 🌬 39 °C
Roger's booked us for 3 nights, so we arrive and check in. Collect our paperwork and park map - we're on drive through site 97.
We get settled and have some lunch - meat and salad sandwich for Roger, toasted sandwich for me - pickles, ham, tomato and cheese.
Now ready to go for a cruise about town for a look.
We get back around 2.30pm. I think for a tick I'm going to make some biscuits as the camp kitchen here has a oven - but Rog informs me it's being used for someone's roast - oh well try another time (shouldn't be so hot?). We relax at camp, Roger has booked us for an Oyster Farm Tour by boat on Friday - so I research what that intales - looks good and includes a dozen oysters each in the 3 hours.
I also do some research on ordering some flowers for Thelma Moss's 100th birthday this month. Write in a card too - ready to post.
Tea tonight is BBQ steak, airfryer chips and salad. Don't require anything else except a cuppa - I've enjoyed a bottle of bubbles with Roger earlier. Roger goes and has his shower while I do the dishes and tidy up. I'm now writing this up before bed.
13/02/25 Thursday. Birds wake us up around 7am - not sure what type, just lots of chirping going on that's for sure! We get up and have a leisurely breakfast together. No definite plans for the day so I'm happy to get organised to go do the Oyster Walk. Roger happy to drive me to the starting point 9.30am, and then he's just going to enjoy his morning 'poking about'.
I get back just after 12 noon, Roger's at camp so we have our lunch. Sandwich for Roger, open toasties for me. I have a shower in our caravan as the power is off at the caravan park today - scheduled 8am to 3pm. We decide to go for a drive to a nearby Pig Farm - we get back around 3.30pm and the power is back on. I go for a short walk to purchase some fresh baked sourdough - made by a local with a 'backyard business'. His Bakery is in a shed and he bakes 3 times a week - today's opening times 4pm to 6pm. I arrive just after 4pm and there is a steady stream of customers pulling up to go in and get some sourdough loaves. I buy 1 $10. Take it back to our caravan, it's still warm, so Roger and I have some sliced with dip for our afternoon drink nibbles. We go for a stroll together around the caravan park - fun to check out other campers set ups. Tea tonight is Chicken Kievs cooked in our airfryer with airfryer potato chips and served with mixed boiled vegetables. We have apple pies (heated in the airfryer) for dessert. Roger goes for his shower, I do the dishes. Now relaxing until bedtime.
14/02/25 Friday Happy Valentines Day. Roger and I are awake around 7am - thanks again to the chirping birds. We get up and have our usual breakfasts (porridge for me, 5 weetbix followed by toast, 1 vegemite, 1 honey for Rog and our cuppas). We tidy up and get organised for our morning tour we're booked for. Told to bring standard gear (water, hat, sunnies etc) and bathers if we want to swim or socks if we want to pull on supplied waders. Too cool for swimming for me this morning! We can walk from here to get to our tour take off point. We head off at 9am. Tour from 9.30am to 1pm. We get back to our caravan just after 1pm. We still feel like lunch - so we have toasted sandwiches - mine actually open toasties using a couple of slices of sourdough. Relax for a while before we both go for a walk to the supermarket. Return to unload our groceries, then walk to HQ (Cafe and Oyster Tours) for me to sample local gins.
Once we get back from this, we relax at camp - we're both reeling from the news that friends Caroline and Ivan Mills have split up. We attended their wedding (feels like a couple of years ago - but know it's a lot longer ago than that) - such a shame, they appeared so great together. I make contact with Caroline via text - she assures me it's mutual and they're both still friends. Caroline now living in Hamilton in the house she has there. I'm hoping Rog will check on Ivan. Tea tonight we have pizzas that Roger has made up - very tasty, salami, olives etc. I decide to take up the use of the camp kitchen oven and bake up some yoyo biscuits. Roger has his shower, and we both do dishes and tidy up. Relax until bedtime - I'm writing this up, then snooze time.
15/02/25 Saturday. I'm in no hurry to get up this morning, Roger is up just after 7.30am, but I have a lie in until closer to 8am. We have a leisurely breakfast, then I go and have a shower. Return and help tidy up and get ready to leave here. We head off around 9.30am.En savoir plus
