• Pig Farm Coffin Bay

    February 13 in Australia ⋅ 🌬 22 °C

At our caravan park, there are advertising boards on display - showing what is happening and available around and in Coffin Bay. There's one board inviting people out to a Pig Farm to enjoy a cuppa and treats in their Cafe and to purchase pork products direct from the farm. Well Roger being very fond of pork on his fork, decided we should go for a drive to this place this afternoon - so we did. I guess it's about 12km out of Coffin Bay - mainly on gravel back roads, so good chance to take in the dry countryside.
We find the driveway thanks to good signage and drive in to find buildings that are a bit run down and yard maintenance lacking. Now I'm a farm girl at heart so I didn't let this put us off. We park and go enter the Cafe area - no one in sight. Everything is open and accessible, we even wander into the next section of the building which appears to be a second hand shop full of old 'stuff'. We go back into the Cafe shop area and check out the pork for sale in a display fridge - nice pork chops and bacon. Still no one around....after waiting another 5 minutes or so - we felt we had better leave.
On our return drive, just as we were driving into Coffin Bay township we passed a small delivery type ute (it was leaving town) that had the Pig Farm logo on it. Oh well, missed our business today.
