Drive here after leaving Gundagai. Wonderful camping spot - happy to be able to relax here for Mother's Day.
We arrive and drive into the campground and select our camping spot - beside the river with a covered over picnic table, fireplace and rubbish bin near by. We set up with ute unhitched and awning and mat out.
I receive a call from Tegan, that Robert joins in - perfect, made my Mother's Day, to chat with them and see them well and happy. Next lunch time, so reheat sausage surprise for Roger and do open toasties for me. Roger goes for a stand up paddleboard along the river, while I go for a short walk and check out the campground layout - lovely spot with toilets and BBQs. Spend the rest of the day relaxing, reading a good book and snacking on Junee rocky road. Tea, Roger cooks a roast of butterflied buttered chicken and roast vegetables served with some boiled vegetables and gravy. Beautiful calm night to sit out and enjoy our campfire - before I retire to the caravan to do dishes and relax inside. Enjoy a lovely call from Gabe - planning for our Serra Terror weekend. Roger has his shower, now relaxing before bed.
12/05/25 Monday. Total go slow day today - no plans to go anywhere, just relax in this lovely spot. Roger gets up before 7.30am, while I'll lie in bed and read until 10am - enjoying a Jack Reacher novel by Lee Child. Once I finally get up, I have breakfast followed by a shower. I do finally send off an email to WDHS for my request to extend my leave without pay until 8 September - will now have to wait to see what the verdict is. After lunch for Roger, he goes for a drive to check out our next potential campground 26km away - when he returns he states we'd be better off staying here - suits me. I have snacks throughout the afternoon, peanut butter on bread, jerky, rockyroad, all while I relax around camp reading. Roger lights our campfire and we enjoy its warmth while having evening drinks. Tea tonight, leftover cold meat from last night's roast with boiled vegetables. Roger has his shower, I do the dishes. All tidied up, now relaxing before bed.
13/05/25 Tuesday. Another 'no plans' day, so I take this opportunity to turn a morning run into my virtual Mother's Day Classic I've signed up for again. I get up before 7.30am and head off hoping to do a 10km 'shuffle' - quite happy my Strava app tells me I managed almost 12km on my return - around 9am. Roger's relaxing at camp - has packed up the paddle board and been for a wander too. I have my breakfast, then shower. Now for another relaxing day at camp. Lunch today (later than usual as I had a later breakfast) Rog cooks up our bacon and eggs 'our way' - oh it is good! Makes for a lazy afternoon - reading. Tea tonight, pizzas (bases that we put our own toppings on) cooked in the Baby Q. Roger has his shower, I wash dishes and tidy up. Go to bed and watch a movie - use my earbuds so I don't disturb Roger. Bedtime.
14/05/25 Wednesday. We get up around 7.30am, have our breakfasts and then leisurely start getting ready to move on. Have to smile/laugh - a couple of other campers have realised by Roger's actions that we're leaving - and they've quickly come over to check. On Roger's confirmation - they've started moving onto this spot (their camp chairs and table) - to claim it! By the time Roger and I almost ready to go - they've got their ute and caravan parked nearby waiting for us to go. Can understand, we did get a choice camping spot. We head off just before 9am.
