Staying in a "cabin" style room which means there's shared amenities and I get to sleep in a hole (but a better furnished hole than let's say a capsule)

Apparently the castle in Hiroshima is known as the carp Castle (presumably because it has a lot of moats) and it's become so loved that they even bangedi their baseball team after them
