Unbelievable war museum. So well done. It will take many posts to share my photos and experience from here. Each place we stop I wish I had more time to explore.
Pegasus Bridge

The British 6th Airborne Division landed gliders near this bridge in near silence on June 5, 1944. Each glider held 28 soldiers.
Brettville Canadian War Cemetery WWII

Earnest Casorso from Kelowna is buried in this cemetary as well as the youngest Canadian soldier, Gerard Dore. We have been doing charcoal rubs of many headstones.
Versailles Palace

Built by King Louis XIV.
Ypres, Belgium

Every single night at 8pm they do a remembrance ceremony at the Menin Gate to honor the thousands and thousands of fallen soldiers. Thier names cover the monument.
Langemark German Cemetery

German Cemetery in Belgium. Very different in appearance. 50,000+ men buried here.
Hill 62

Actual natural trenches. Very muddy. Inside were so many war artifacts and photo boxes with hundreds and hundreds of photos by soldiers during the war (some of them very graphic and gory).
St. Juliaan

Gas attacks were done here by the Germans. Canadians filled the gaps where French soldiers fled.

Beaumont Hamel Battlefield

A significant battle took place here on July 1, 1916. The 29th Regiment (from Newfoundland) lost about 85% of thier men this morning. Thier battle was riddled with miscommunication and errors leadingMeer informatie

Visited the most amazing Cathedral I have ever seen today.
Fort du Vaux, Vaux-devant-Damlou, France

Visited an underground fort.
Ossuaire Douaumont, France

130,000 unnamed soldiers lie under this monument. Bones visible through the windows. Crosses mark 14,000 identified soldiers actually buried here. What a humbling experience.
