What a fascinating ritual here! The city is divided into 17 districts that have a competitive spirit around their annual horse race. It is unbelievable the amount of ritual and detail to this tradition. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a cooler city and what bonds them. We spent a great amount of time in the forest district with their Rhinoceros. Our hotel was in the dragon district and our guide was from the sea shell. Where you where born and baptized determined your district do families were divided by this race every year since you usually married someone out of your district and probably had your first child in a different district, etc. All the detail to it was captivating.
