    First night

    Set off on our adventure we are currently staying on an aire by a fishing lake in Apply bridge first 200 miles done and will head to Portsmouth tomorrow to catch the ferry to Santander - first country of the journey done as now in England 😂Leggi altro

    Portsmouth

    Good nights sleep and woken by the geese ! Long journey with rubbish traffic but got to Portsmouth. Parked by the sea and had a walk along the front. Drove a little further into town and had dinner in a Vietnamese street food place yum😊 going to head to the ferry port now but have a little wait as the boat does not leave until midnight !Leggi altro

    Set up for the next 2 nights

    Got to the campsite nice and early and luckily they let us set up. Went for a walk to get our bearings and hoped to get some food for dinner but all the shops are shut on Sunday here. Found a bar though and booked in for dinner tonight. It specialises in steaks 🥩 yum 😋. It is peaceful with tinkle of goats and cow bells.Leggi altro

    Exploring the area

    Yesterday afternoon found a spot for a dip which was refreshing. Walked into the village for dinner we had the most amazing steak which this area is famous for old dairy cows aged for a couple of months. AMAZING 🥩
    Today we had a lazy morning and then went for a bike ride didn’t look that up hill on the map lol. Now sat relaxing with local cheese from the village and a good bottle of Rioja 🍷    Leggi altro

    San Senastian

    28–29 mag 2024, Spagna ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

    Packed up early and got the boiler fixed happy that can now have hot water. Spectacular drive through mountains and coastal scenery. Traumatic last 15k as satnav kept playing up but got here and set up and straight into town.
    Lots of Rioja and Pintxos ( like tapas ) back for a sundowner and ready to plan the next few days of the trip 💕    Leggi altro

    Mendigorría

    We moved on from the sea back to mountains. Stopped for food shopping in Pamplona and on a chilled site with a pool near Mendigorría. 2 nights here before heading into France
    They have a pool which has been nice but it is heated and way to warm for me lol and love the hat they make you wear 😂

    Cheap beer and good company

    Lazy start. Breakfast in the sunshine and then a quick bike ride to the bridge that we had been told was great for swimming. Swim and fishing and back for showers. Decided to walk into the village to explore - found the pub and beer was very cheap (€1 a glass ) met a lovely couple also on the site who we chatted with over a few beers and then wine back at the site.

    Lazy day

    Today was a very unusual day for us that we stayed on the site - Jim did some fishing , I had a swim and we read our books in the sunshine. We had a game of boules which always
    reminds me of Dad 🥰 We were going to walk into the village for dinner but unfortunately we didn’t check if anywhere open in France on a Sunday night - nope ! So thankfully I had pasta, tuna, olives , tomato paste, mushrooms and a courgette in cupboards and fridge so tomato pasta it was with red wine 💕 moving to Ile De Re tomorrowLeggi altro

    Cycling day

    Amazing day doing our longest cycle since the Danube - France is just so set up for cyclists. The island is known for its salt and for its oysters so we had to have both. We bought some salt straight from the salt pans( some for mum too) We had our first oysters in the market with a cool glass of white wine and then after lunch found an oyster shack where they shucked the oysters and told us to take them to the beach to eat them 💕🥰
    2 Swims one after the oysters and one in Loix right at the end of the island. Back to motorhome for steaks and bottle of Ackerman fizz my fav    Leggi altro

    Montjean sur Loire

    We have arrived back in our fav part of France for a couple of days before heading to St Malo and home 🥲
    We are hoping to cycle some more of the Loire path we started 2 years ago tomorrow. Tonight we walked along the sculpture trail, saw a stone mine head and seen the Lime kilns. Also a gorgeous old church which is being restored. Beer by the river and then back to the campsite for moules frites yumLeggi altro

    Cycling on the loire

    We started the day having breakfast outside the bakers with coffee and pastries. We then cycled another part of the Velo de La Loire from Monthjean to Rockfort which was a great circular route along the river with gorgeous houses filled with flowers, Jim made me stop for our first beer at just past 11am lol and had a menu du jour at the side of the river.
    Back for a swim and showers before a lovely dinner on a fancy hotel and then sundowner in a riverside bar.
    Don’t want the holiday to end but we travel to just outside St Malo tomorrow before our ferry home on Saturday- roll on retirement 😂    Leggi altro
