  • Arriving of Simon and photoshooting

    February 6, 2024 in Morocco ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

Simon arrived in the night to the airport and could directly feel the hospitality of local people. Taxidrivers were willing to take him even for free, just to help him to get home.
Next day we had photoshooting in one restaurant where we could eat for free and even look in the kitchen, and try to prepare the food by ourselves.
I really like such a coincidences, that leads to such experiences.
In the evening we also met with my uni-mate Max and his friend and had some nice dinner with the sunset on the terrasse.

  • Hiking in Atlas mountain

    Feb 7–9, 2024 in Morocco ⋅ ☀️ 11 °C

Next day we hitchhiked to Imlil. Village where most of the hikes starts from. Hitchhiking was pretty easy and we never had to wait longer than 15 minutes.
In Imlil everyone tryed to offer us some tours. Mostly to the highest peak Toubkal but we decided that we want to hike alone. Toubkal was apparently not possible without guide, as there is police checking you so we decided for other path. First night we camped on a small field in the mountains as it was the only spot with flat ground. Next day we did quite big hike approx. 25 km and with elevation almost 2000 m. We passed some nice villages on the way and got back to Imlil next evening shortly before darkness. The last night we spend camping on a parking lot.Read more

  • Hitchhiking to Quarzazate

    February 9, 2024 in Morocco ⋅ 🌬 19 °C

In the morning we met nice Italian guy that is traveling with his van. He prepared us nice coffee and then he gave as a lift to the next village. It was a rainy day. Which was great for the nature as it's not been raining for a long time but not that good for us. Even through the rain we manage to find a nice people that took us with them.
On the way we could feel the hospitality again when one young girl invited us to her house to eat couscous - typical food for Fridays. We could meet her whole family and eat the best couscous we had so far.
We managed to get to Quarzazate where we met with a workaway family, where we're gonna stay for next days.

  • Monkey finger trail

    February 13, 2024 in Morocco ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

In the morning we started hitchhiking to Tamellalt where we were planing to hike Monkey finger trail. This time we had to wait a bit and route that would normally take us 2 hours took us the double, but we met many nice people on the round and the last guy drove us 30km extra, just to bring us directly to the trail.
Hiking was bit harder than we expected and sometimes we had to climb a bit, to be able to follow the trail which was bit challenging with the bagpacks, but the vies were definitely worth it.

  • First time in desert Merzouga

    Feb 14–16, 2024 in Morocco ⋅ 🌙 21 °C

Hitchhiking to desert went super easy because the first car that stopped for us were to Italian girls heading directly to Merzouga.
After lucky hitchhike we got to the place, where everyone was offering us tours and accommodation which we didn't need because our plan was just to build our tent in the desert and spend there two nights. We climbed up the highest dune to watch the sunset and sunrise, enjoyed lying in the sand and watching the night sky.
In the afternoon we went to the city to find some cooler place in the restaurant were we ate some of the local soups and drunk my favorite orange juice. We also went to visit a small horse farm, where we could "talk" to a very nice guy, however the conversation was not perfect, because he could speak just French.

  • Hitchhiking day

    February 22, 2024 in Morocco ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Our was to Essaouira was not that easy as we expected. With our first truck we got to the gas station on the highway where was no cars at all. The we tryed to hitchhike directly on the highway as there was mostly going one car every 5 minutes or so. We assumed that most of the people take the way that it's free. After at least 30 minutes of waiting we found a family going to Safi, where we had small lunch and then we continued to Essaouira. We decided to take the way along the coast but it showed again as a wrong decision bacause there were very few cars. In the end we found a German couple taking us straight to Essaouira. In the evening we had nice dinner and watch beautiful sunset. Bacause for this night we didn't find couchsurfing we camped in "forest" behind the town.Read more

  • A dream come true

    February 23, 2024 in Morocco ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

My dream since childhood was gallop with a horse on the beach. And as Essaouira has a beach and also many horses there was no better place to do it. For me it was very important that the horses lives in a good conditions which in Morroco is not always the case. I did some small research before and I found a nice stable, where it seems pretty good. I went alone just with my guide Mustafa. It was such a nice feeling and also quite some adrenaline as it was the fastest I ever run with a horse.Read more

  • Essaouira

    Feb 23–25, 2024 in Morocco ⋅ 🌬 20 °C

When we first arrived to Essaouira we were quite shocked how many tourist were there. In the places we visited before were mostly just locals but Essaouira is quite to opposite. Hovewer it was still nice to walk around the medina, explore some nice small shops and eat a good Morrocan food, especially Tajin and Couscous. Next two night we stayed with our host Bob, who was living directly in the centre and we went to the hamam, place similar to spa where local people wash themselves properly as in most of the houses people don't have a warm water. For me the experince was bit crazy as one woman took me as her kid of a daughter and decided to scratch all my skin of, which was very painful but at least I will remember this for a long time.Read more
