Chichén Itza & Cenote X‘Kekén

This was a really, really, really expensive day, 25€ entry fee, 10€ for the guide and then the cenotes. But very interesting and worth it! I think Chichén Itza is overrated as a tourist attraction - but more interesting in the context of learning about Mayans being smart as nobody else and knowing a lot about the universe which we don’t even understand today. Fun fact: they played a game in between football and Basketball with a very heavy medicine ball and sometimes with human heads whose bodies were sacrificed...
Anyways we were hitchhiking with this Texan couple and they let us out in some small village that doesn’t even have a name on the map and we ate very good food and saw to open cenotes from above.
Then we took a taxi to Cenotes X-Kéken and it was the best spontaneous idea that could have happened because they were both A M A Z I N G. One has been taken as inspiration for the one in Coco, the Disney movie. So cool! We met Rámon, Paolo and Yael and took them out to dinner and beer in Valladolid. Czytaj więcej
