Day 1 of the Lap. We left Esk and drove to Toogoolawah for a quick stop to visit Gary's old work mate from Queensland rail. Moved on to Blackbutt and went to the famous bakery to get lunch and sit in the park with the dogs. Onto Nanango information centre to register and Get a permit to camp at the Broadcaster Reserve camp. A gorgeous quiet spot on a small river. Lots of pelicans and cows. 😁 we had the best sunset last night. The reflection on the water was amazing. We will be here for 4 days if our water lasts. Got some strategies in place to help it last.Read more

  • Esk

    May 29, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Arrived at Esk for the Jurgens Jamboree that starts on Friday. A few here already. A very cold night last night and extremely windy at Placid Hills, so was surprised to arrive to a beautiful sunny day and a slight breeze. We are only 40 minutes from where we were camped for the last week so didn't expect that. We will see what tonight brings.Read more

  • Deepwater, NSW

    May 2, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

Stayed at Longhorne Bar & Grill free camping behind the pub overnight. Fabulous place. Lots of history. The original pub was built in the 1800s. It was a cobb & co coach stop. It burnt down a few years ago and new owners took over the challenge of rebuilding. Some original walls were still there. We had lunch in the beer garden and the dogs were able to roam around. We had burgers. Amazing. It got very cool that night, so we went into pub to sit by the fire, ordered pizza and had a drink. So relaxing. We were allowed to bring th e dogs in. The resident cat lay in front of the fire. Dogs were on leads, soo no scraps. They are opening a distillery there in October. Left early the next morning to return to Brisbane to house sit for Scott & Ursh & look after their fur babies for the weekend.Read more

We've arrived at this absolutely gorgeous camp spot right on the river. Dennis met up with us and now there are 2 Jurgens Lunagazers free camping. Sat around a fire last night. Great night. The boys have been flying their drones and fishing today. We've had a group of horse riders pass our camp and cross the river further down. I made banana muffins in the weber for morning tea. Seen quite a few kangaroos.Read more

  • Manilla

    April 18, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

Manilla is a lovely town on Fossickers Way. We drove through Tamworth on the New England highway & changed to Fossickers way. The landscape changed and it's becoming very dry. Manilla ran out of water last week. I don't know how they are getting it now. The town has setup free camps to help The town bring in income. Camp is a donation and we are encouraged to shop in town. Fabulous bakery here. But sold out of pies by lunchtime. I was devasted. Missed out. But finally found a jam and cream donut. Bakerys that we have been to don't make them.Read more

Our first free camp. Lovely spot. Shame about the rubbish people leave. Another couple camped there. They are from Brisbane. Heading back there for easter. They are full time travellers. A couple from our Jurgens group drive out from Singleton to meet us to say hello. Lovely couple. She gave us advice where to stop next and where would be easiest for us to stop to stock up supplies. A beautiful drive through the country. Coal mining in the area.Read more

Spent 3 days here. 1st day overcast, a lot cooler but Abit humid. Storms that night. Very cloudy and drizzle next day and rained all day Saturday. Didnt get past 20 degrees. Very cool. A good day for reading and watching Netflix. I made @ batch of sultana scones in the Weber. Gary fell asleep, so he missed out. He woke for dinner. Put scones in freezer. Didn’t get to use the pool. It looked lovely. I did get my foot in it. It was heated. There was a lovely beach. I took the dogs for a walk the first day and 2 kangaroos came hopping across the path, they looked at me and took off. I wasn’t quick enough to get a photo.Read more
