1Berber guide to take us to village, explain culture, crops, way of life.
This is their irrigation method. Each family has a section to farm & they route water from main lineBerber woman carding wool. Live sheep, goat, &/or camel wool. Live has the oils in the wool.Tea always a part, generally in beginning. Here Rose (NDL) accepts "Berber Whiskey" from our guide. Now she spins. Takes 6 months to make a medium size rug. Berber rug has fringe only at end.1Now show time. This is a large rug & no set pattern used. It's each woman's own design, no two alikeThey brought many out & each gorgeous. 🐫 wool a stiff rug. Sheep softer. All can be washed. They fold rugs like we fold quilts & mine now looks like a lunch pail. Zoe carrying for me.2I should've cropped, zoom in, 🌻 good to see Jim. I'd had him on my mind Saturday (22 yrs).Ahhh, the Dades! Locals enjoy the cool river & many of us did, too. That cold water felt so good! Not wide, not deep, but still great. It reminded me of the Incan Trail when we soaked tired feet.Leire, Basque (Spain), joined in a little pick up game. 3 of the Basque girls played 🏀 together. Not sure the purpose, but in this area, these spaced equidistant apart along road.Diego reads but many crashed. Heat is draining.I wished I'd kept track how many liters of water I drank, easily 14 over 3 days, likely more. The driver usually had music on & Shakira came on. Basque girls sang & danced in seats. Shakira bornAlmost game time. Our newly named group, Shakira, pretty excited - everyone naming their 🐫.Oldest in the front? Not sure how I got picked for lead, but awesome view for 90 minute ride.Surprisingly, I wasn't sore from ride bc the saddles are ancient & not comfy. Jeeps & quads passedLittle back talk while finishing touches occur. FYI those blankets offer little padding. 🙃1I'm not sure this captures just how vast it really is out here. It's gorgeous in sparse, barren way.

ReisendeThe rugs are gorgeous. Do you have a pic of the one you got? Those camels sound so grumpy 😂 what an experience to add to your travel checklist!
