A Wee Detour

The trip to Ireland has a slight detour to Dundee, Scotland to visit a Camino friend. However, the real not so wee detour was flying to Denver to catch my international flight. Read more

    Anne, Ian, Moira, Dennis, & I began the day w/ coffee & scones, as is their tradition. Now we begin.
    The views were stunning!Heather.Sleeps wool.It's a wonder I didn't fall, I just couldn't stop taking in the view.One little guy decided to "dive in".The forecast had been sketchy, but day turned out great. Occasionally overcast.A variety to the trail.A welcome little break.A well worn bench, however none of us needed a rest.This just seemed perfectly Scottish to me.Inside the pub, I saw a couple dogs. These guys clearly regulars. ❤️Entrance to the long standing pub, Anne's parents honeymooned here.Left to right, Anne, Ian, K2, Moira.Dennis & K2.Breezy!We each brought a pack lunch & here I'm enjoying mine.Moira & I solving the world's problems as one does while hiking.L-Rt, K2, Anne, Moira, & Dennis. Moira's husban, Mike, was busy, as was Dennis's wife, Heather.The winds are something, but you can still here the lambs cry, bit of a Scottish accent 😉Winds quieter, but you can hear the footfalls on the trail.

    Day 3

    July 4 in Northern Ireland ⋅ 🌬 17 °C

    Dennis & I met on the Camino, he continues to hike at home w/ his wife & a group of friends once a month. They adjusted their schedules to hike whilst I was in town. Great people!!

    First, Dennis's Dad was a Master Carpenter & built a life-size version of this thresher.
    My pic doesn't do justice to this three glass walled room. I loved it.Here the Glass Room on right. My flight path is dead center in this pic.Looking from entry hall, unto kitchen. Door to garage at far end.The garage. The stone so old.A view of the back of their beautiful home.It doesn't do it justice.Looking off towards airport. Which is just 10 minutes away.More of the farm ground around them.I'm not admitting to how many raspberries I ate. So lucky they were in season while I was here!Dennis's boots from his Kilimanjaro hike.When you walk the Camino de Santiago, each place you stop for the night or a coffee gives a stamp.My neighbor across the way. Never said a peep.Once we were in Edinburgh, an employee held the baby while Mom got organized. She had a young boy.I've learned to pronounce it correctly! Also, the man looks gruff in last pic. Not.one bit!Back to walking out to tarmac. My first Ryanair flight.It was 17 pounds for my seat.No frills, for.sure! They did sell scratcherss & other retail items LOL

    Day 5

    July 4 in Northern Ireland ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

    Time to make my way to Northern Ireland. I realized I hadn't snapped many pics of their home & garden. A beautiful home they have just sold. It was a threshing mill. Amazing to see the photo album of what they purchase versus what they're selling. Lastly, the photo that is my fave is his passport from the Camino. That's where we met, what a good friend & a blessing to catch up. Seeing all his stamps makes me want to get back on it.Read more
