• Day 7

    Louve Museum, Paris

    May 18 in France ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Today we travelled in by train to Rue de Bac, a street located in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. It is known for its numerous food shops, cafes, and restaurants. We only stopped to try (and share) a small chocolate mousse from Chapon Chocolate Mousse Bar. They have a number of varieties available - from sweet to a dark chocolate flavour. Yum!
We then moved on to sorbets as we found a shop that had Framboise & Rose flavour and Passion flavour (passionfruit). They were good, but certainly not as good as the sorbets from Berthillon. We are experts now!
And then we walked, and walked, and walked to the Louvre.
I had booked the tickets months ago, as we didn't want to miss out on seeing the Napoleon lll Apartments. (Apparently, there were a number of Napoleon's!) It reminded me of some if the rooms at Versaille. Opulent!
There was also a small display of haute couture from some of the big fashion houses at the Louvre.
And then it was time to head on back to our apartment after dinner. We stumbled across a few more things to see, including the Chatelet Column Statue of an Angel with Two Crowns.
Now, it is time to repack the suitcase and get ready to travel to Germany. I will also be farewelling my cousin, Kirsten, who will return to Edinburgh tomorrow night. It has been good to get to know my cousin a bit more.
Tomorrow, I will travel via Brussells-Midi (on Eurostar) and arrive at Siegburg-Bonn (Deutsche Bahn) to stay with Ellen, Ilia and their two little girls for a few days. Ellen lived with Kelvin and me when she was backpacking in Australia.
Today, I clocked up 19,000+ steps. My feet definitely need a rest now!
